Samsung Dishwasher door does not close

Last Update date : 2022-12-15

There are a number of reasons why the door of your dishwasher might not be closing all the way. Make sure the racks are fully pushed in and that the dishes are positioned correctly inside. Additionally, make sure the door lock is in the right place, and that the dishwasher is level.

What to do when the door does not fully close:

1 Make sure the dishes are loaded properly.

Make sure to load the dishes properly inside the dishwasher racks. Click here to learn how to load the items in the dishwasher properly.

2 Push the racks all the way into the dishwasher.

Once the dishes are properly loaded, confirm there is nothing preventing the racks from going completely into the dishwasher.

3 Check the alignment of the door.

The door could become trapped against the cabinet and fail to close properly if it is not properly positioned. Make sure to level your dishwasher because it may occur if it is not level.

4 When the door is open, make sure the door latch is in the proper position.

Make sure the door latch is in the correct position when the door is open, if the door latch is broken make sure to contact us to arrange a service request.

5 Verify the AutoRelease settings.

Some more recent versions have a feature called AutoRelease that causes the door to automatically open at the end of a cycle. The rods it employs to do so will remain stretched for a few minutes and prevent the door from closing again. You risk breaking your dishwasher if you try to close the door while the rods are still extended.
