How to use S-pen with Galaxy devices

Last Update date : 2022-10-11

More devices are now compatible with the S Pen than ever before. Whether you have a Galaxy Z Fold4, Note series phone, Tab S8, S21 Ultra, or S22 Ultra, you will be able to draw and write straight on the screen! You may buy an S Pen even if your compatible model does not come with one. The optional S Pen is available in two distinct models: the S Pen Fold Edition and the S Pen Pro.

To use the S Pen, remove it from your device by pressing gently on the end. On removal, your device will vibrate briefly. You can also activate the S Pen by hovering it over the screen and quickly pressing the S Pen button at the end twice.

Once you’ve chosen your S Pen and have your new phone, all you have to do is pair the S Pen and start writing or multitasking!

To pair your S Pen Fold Edition, simply take it out of the case and begin using it on the screen. The Fold Edition does not need to be charged.

To pair your S Pen Pro, first, ensure you've charged it. Check that the mode switch is set to the correct device (such as a Galaxy Z Fold). Hold the Pairing button for 3 seconds until your phone recognizes the S Pen. You can write on the screen or use remote features like Air actions.

You can jot down notes, translate text, and preview links. Air command is a menu that provides S Pen features and quick access to frequently used apps.

To open the Air command panel, hover the S Pen over the screen and press the S Pen button. Alternatively, hover the S Pen over the screen and tap the Air command icon with the S Pen.

If the Air command icon does not appear after you hover the S Pen over the screen, launch the Settings app, tap Advanced features > S Pen, and then tap the Show floating icon switch to activate it.
