Device maintenance

Device maintenance provides an overview of the status of your device’s battery, storage, RAM, and device security. You can also automatically optimize your device’s system resources.

Note: Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

Quick optimization

The Quick Optimization feature improves device performance through the following actions:

   • Identifying apps that use excessive battery power and clearing unneeded items from memory.

   • Deleting unnecessary files and closing apps running in the background.

   • Scanning for malware.

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch Settings.

3. Touch Device maintenance.

4. Touch OPTIMIZE NOW.



5. Touch DONE.

Battery

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch Settings.

3. Touch Device maintenance.

4. Touch Battery.



5. The following options will be available:



   • Battery usage: View details of battery usage by item.

   • Power saving mode: Extend battery life by selecting a power saving mode. Choose OFF, MID, or MAX. Estimated remaining battery life for each mode is provided.

   • App power monitor: Put apps to sleep so that they do not use battery power when not in use. Touch Save power to enable

   • Unmonitored apps: Select apps to exclude from being put to sleep by the App power monitor.

   • More Options > Advanced settings: Configure advanced battery settings.

Performance

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch Settings.

3. Touch Device maintenance.

4. Touch Performance.



5. Choose one of the following options:



   • Optimized (recommended): Balance battery life and screen resolution for everyday use.

   • Game: Enhance your gaming experience by making games run more smoothly.

   • Entertainment: Enjoy music and videos with ultra high quality sound and enhanced images.

   • High performance: Experience the highest quality display settings.

Storage

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch Settings.

3. Touch Device maintenance.

4. Touch Storage.



5. Touch CLEAN NOW to free up storage space by deleting unnecessary data, such as cached, residual, and advertisement files.

Memory

1. From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.

2. Touch Settings.

3. Touch Device maintenance.

4. Touch Memory.



5. Touch CLEAN NOW to free up memory by stopping background apps.
