We had the player for a month and watched 3 titles in 4KUHD. They were great and the picture was outstanding. The remote is a little difficult if you have large hands as the buttons have poor feedback, but we us a universal so it is not important. We went to watch a DVD, turned on the player and had a flashing red light, no picture. We went through the reboot steps and followed the instructions on Samsung's Support area. No luck. They called us back and we shipped the DVD player to them and we are now awaiting a replacement. I will happily adjust the rating upon receipt of a functioning player since it did work well for that short spell.

Calidad de imagen soberbia, buen nivel de sonido, carga del Blue ray buena aunque el tiempo de encendido es un poco lento.
Tengo la TV Ue 55 js9000 y me ocurre en repetidas veces que al apagar el reproductor el sistema tintinea y aunque lo hayas apagado vuelve a encenderse con lo que si te habías conectado a algún canal vuelves a perderlo, por que se ha vuelto a conectar al canal del reproductor y hay veces que me ocurre eso hasta en 3 ocasiones seguidas.
Esa es la única pega que tengo del reproductor por lo demás me parece un buen producto aunque me parece que su precio es excesivo para ser un reproductor y no tener funciones de grabación.

I've been waiting for years for this Blu-Ray player to hit the market so that I could fully exercise my 4K projector. Watched Martian UHD version and it was spectacular! Watched a Blu-Ray and the Mrs. immediately noticed the upscaling. Love the dual HDMI ports on the back of this unit, should I ever need to pump out audio separately. (This is Samsungat its finest - helping out those that may not have the right configuration to handle HDCP 2.2.).
I can do without the curvature and the unit can be a heck of a lot smaller, but it's still fantastic. Just hoping that it doesn't start to fault like my previous Sammy did after 18 months.

Hooked up easily in about 10 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed the brilliant Pacific Rim in HRD! But - the apps are pitiful and "My Apps" is a lie. You cannot customize your frequently used apps like Netflix, Vudu, or Amazon Prime. It should be called "Samsung Rarely Used Downloaded Apps" since that's all you can customize. A jokel
Took 30 minutes with a non-English speaking person from southeast Asia before I got to a supervisor that spoke flawless English and confirmed my fears - bad design.
So, if you need a unit immediately, I'd recommend for 4k UHD blu ray playing only. The remote is also way too small and quirky in design

I love this player's performance. Blu-ray and 4K DVD playback is excellent. The picture seems to jump out of the TV. Colors are true and the depth-of-field is uncanny. A truly remarkable player. My only reason for not giving it 5's across the board is the the remote control is small and the player is a little sluggish when using the Next and Back keys as Forward and Rewind.It's also very easy to hit the Power button when rewinding and you want to hit Play.
This is my 3rd Samsung DVD Player (1 HD, 1 Blu-ray & 1 Blu-ray/4K) The remotes on the Blu-ray players each have their issue, while the HD player's remote is very functional.

I was one of the lucky ones to get one of these from Best Buy on Feb 10th. Got it home and set it up and wow what a picture. The detail and color were amazing. Very easy to set up and use. I just got the 4K version of The Martian and the picture is as good as it gets. The only issue I have is that I think the remote is too small but don't let that stop you from getting one of these, I know you will love it. It also does a great job of upscaling all DVD's.too. I haven't tried it with any CD's but the sound for movies is awesome. Supports Dolby Atmos and everything else you want to throw at it. I have only had it for a few weeks but absolutely no regrets at all.

I bought this player after reading countless reviews of blu ray players from a variety of manufacturers. This was consistently rated the best by many. I have not been disappointed. It is responsive and displays impressive picture quality. However, there is a major flaw with the unit: its remote control. It is very small and nearly impossible to operate. Why design engineers would pair this remote with an otherwise superior player is beyond me. It is so bad I searched the internet for a replacement and bought a remote (AK59-00167A) from an earlier Samsung model. It works perfectly. They should have left well enough alone.

Buen diseño y carga los UHD muy rápido.
Fantástica calidad de imagen , no se si tendrá que ver que mi tv también es Samsung.
Rápida configuración y sin problemas.
El mando es pequeño y práctico , muy logrado.
Permite ver netflix y otros contenidos , una buena solución para los que no tienen smarttv.
En mi caso tiene justo las salidas que necesito , HDMI + Optico además de etrhernet.
No tiene los típicos conectores RCA para conectar al ampli , hay que hacerlo vía HDMI o Optico.
Permite acceder a un NAS pero no es capaz de reproducir ficheros grandes , ni AVI ni MKV.
El punto negativo es que no el multizona pero curiosamente en algunas webs lo venden como tal , a saber.

Har vært den heldige eier av denne UHD spilleren i litt over 1måned nå, og har fått testet den med min Philips PUS6521 TV. Har testet 2 stk 4K UHD filmer, "Pan" og "The Martian", sistnevnte var best bilde på og det slo meg nesten over ende hvor skarpt bildet var, og for noen flotte farger det ble i HDR. Så også "Deadpool" i vanlig blu-ray noen dager etter å ha sett den på en vanlig blu ray spiller og denne spiller oppskalerte bildet et meget merkbart hakk opp på stigen. Netflix i 4K fungerer også utmerket og spilleren gjør en fantastisk jobb med bildeprosseseringen. Rask respons i meny, bra smart hub. Anbefales!

I've owned this since release day and have been amazed at it's speed and quality. It loads blu-rays and Ultra HD blu-rays at an incredible speed over previous generations. Menus load instantly. Updates have been frequent and easy to install. The only thing I could live without is purely cosmetic and it's the curved front. Just looks awkward with all my AV equipment. Honestly though, you can't go wrong with this player if you're a videophile or audiophile. The Dolby Atmos sounds unreal, it's hard to describe without hearing it for yourself. I just got the DTS X update, so I can't wait for some content to try.

To be completely honest, the only reason why I went with the Samsung 4K Bluray player was the lack of competition. However, I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked. Since pretty much all the content on a 4k bluray will be played on something other than the actual player, the players only function is to get the picture to your TV and sound to your receiver (or TV) and this player defenitely does that.
Load times are ok, it outputs exactly the way I want it to; it doesn't get in your way which normally 1st gen products tend to do. Its a good player, even if its the only player on the market now.

Has a ton of features. If you find it at the right price, its a great deal. It played my 4K Blu-Rays with perfect picture. It looked amazing and I finally noticed the difference on my 8700 Samsung after 2 years of ownership. The nice perk is it has all the app features that the 4K Roku requires so its like not only a high level blu ray player, but also like a built in 4K web Viewer.
My only disclaimer is that it did interrupt the first time I played a blu-ray. Like it just paused, I shut it off, and then resumed play normally. Kind of weird out of the box, but it might have needed a firmware update, or it could have maybe been the disk. I didn't have chance to troubleshoot it yet.

No other way to put it, the remote is terrible. Buttons are very close together and not very user friendly. As for the picture it does a very good job of playing UHD blu rays and regular Blu rays. Regular blu rays upconvert with very little to no artifacts. Dvd's the problem is it is a very low resolution to begin with and you can only do so much video processing. I have read many reviews that stated this machine was slow to start up but have been pleasantly surprised at how quick it is from turning on and playing a disc. A display on the front would have been nice. Initial setup was very easy.

I had originally bought this 4k Blu ray player when it first was available at best buy and had issues with it playing any Blu ray or 4k movies! But played DVD's just fine. So I returned it after about 2 years cause of this issue and had got a new one and now it's doing it again and everything is up to date!!? Complete waste of money in my opinion for only getting about 2 years out of it and I rarely used it and took extremely good care of it! Even Still has the plastic wrap on it. I'd give it 5 stars if this issue didn't keep occurring. I love Samsung products but this player is a total waste of money u unless you plan on buying a new one ever 2 years or so. Very disappointed with this player!

Samsung has always been my go-to supplier of electronics. Their quality is consistently high and their prices are reasonable. The video and audio coming out of this unit are extraordinary! While the available 4K content is limited, this is certainly the way forward until or unless a new breakthrough in A/V occurs.

OK so it's not pretty in the eyes of most, a bit of an ugly duckling you might say, however in terms of performance it excels. Everything you
throw at it works (Unlike the new Oppo 203), pristine UHD HDR from discs, great upscaling from Blu ray & it's fast loading. Apps work exactly as they should. I have heard some say it has a "Red push" certainly not in my case, colours from my Samsung display are as close to real life as you are going to get & image detail is superb. My only real niggle is the tiny toy like remote, however even that when you get used to it works very well.

I really like the look of this unit. It plays our 4K media as it's supposed to and it truly looks amazing on our TV. The biggest problem is the interface and the apps. We own a Samsung 4K TV and it has a vastly superior supply of apps. I wish this Blu-ray player used the same app store. I also wish the smart remote that came with our TV worked on the Blu-ray player. I think it should. The little remote that came with the Blu-ray player is fine but not great. It's easy to got lost on it using just feel. I also want to be able to customize the home display and what apps show up.

there hasn't been an update to the firmware on this player for years. as a result, the player won't play newer fox blu-rays and generates a "this disc does not meet the specifications" error before ejecting the disc. the player will play fox 4k uhd discs and older fox blu-rays, but it won't play newer bd titles, including blu-ray 3d. i have hundreds of 4k uhds and blu-rays and have tested my theory, but it's only the new fox blu-rays that cause the problem. i have the latest firmware upgrade (1015) and have tried a factory reset of the device. i have also tried turning off bd-live and prohibiting a wireless connection altogether, but nothing will make this player play a new fox blu-ray. it's beyond frustrating.

I bought the UBD K8500 at Best buy, took it home wouldn't play UHD dvds. Called Samsung we took steps, they told me I had a defective unit. Returned to Best buy, exchanged for a different one ( same model ) took it home...same thing. Called Samsung, they walked me through the same steps as before they said they'd get back to me, never did. I called them, now I have to ship it to them so their technical department can try to figure out what's wrong with it. I strongly recommend that you do not buy this particular unit, I'm not happy at all. I have many Samsung products,

I was so excited when I received a call from UPS on Thursday that my shipment was ready for pick-up. I hooked it up as soon as I got home from work. The picture quality and audio was simply amazing and outstanding. I hooked it up to the UN65JU7500 which does not have HDR and a sound bar that is 8.1 Even without the HDR the picture was still amazing, I can only image how it would look with one of the SUHD models. I watched The Martian and The Scorch a Trials, picture quality was amazing. There is a major difference between the 4K picture and 1080p picture. Do not regret buying this bluray player, really happy with it, can't wait to get the JS9000 in a few weeks to really show the power of the 4K Ultra HD Bluray player.

We purchased the 8500 to match a Samsung 4k 50". The clarity of the picture is outstanding. The characters seem to be in the same room.
The on screen menu is strong and complete, easy to use and easy to customize. I use Vudu, Google Play and Flixster for my online TV & Movie purchases, and my Samsung 4k player has setups for each of these accounts allowing instant access to on screen viewing. Again, those movies would look like a million bucks.
The remote is another story. On the positive side the functions are complete and easy to use without looking once you memorize the button layout. However, what is missing would be illumination on the control. At night it would help if the buttons would have some type of back lighting.

In my opinion Samsung is the best out there. Every product and device I have purchased this year has ended up being a Samsung. Since all of the things I have gotten are all firsts I can't really compare it to any other. But when in the electronic store looking at TV's, it had the best picture. The blueray player is pretty cool once I figured out the remote. Which is very slender and touch sensitive. So much nicer than the cheap dvd player that would cut off when you left it paused too long and didn't save your place in the movie... Very happy customer!

This is my second Samsung Ultra HD Player UBD-K8500. We have used the first one for about a year and decided to get a second one because it is so superior to what we had before. The colors are deep, rich, bright, and the adjustments amazing. The sound goes directly to our stereo system, and is so clear and rich that even though I am hard of hearing, I don't need headphones or to play it louder than what my wife likes. So you can't go wrong with this Unit. By the way, we tried it on an old 12 year + Plasma TV and it also made an incredible difference.

Just bought this unit so that I could fully enjoy watching Ultra HiDef 4K BluRay on a new TV and am very happy with it! The ability to split sound and video comes in really handy when you have a receiver that is not HDCP 2.2 compliant. Setup was really easy, though the remote is pretty small and too much use can cause hand fatigue. Sound and picture quality are fantastic. Best of all, the price is much lower than the other 4K player out there. I've already referred the unit to a friend who is setting up a home theater and he bought it today!

After waiting to play 4k movies it was discovered that my Samsung 7500 4k tv wasn't capable of playing 4k dvd's which wasn't explained to me when purchased. The tv requires HDR in order to play 4k dvd's. I bought one of the first 8500 models and they are now $150.00 cheaper. The player does upscale blu ray discs to a higher quality but isn't worth the price. Could've bought a cheaper model that upscales also. Player stops while watching movies and I have to push play again to resume. Not sure if it's the player or the disc that's at fault.

At last, America has the option to own a Ultra HD Blu-ray. Bought it at Best Buy. Plugged the machine up to my 4k TV. Even though my TV is an older model set that isn't HDCP 2.2 compliant, I was still able to enjoy the full UHD picture displayed in 3840x2160 using Netflix & YouTube, which both have considerable 4k programming options.
This machine is easy to use. Biggest feature? The up-conversion of existing blu-ray discs. Put in The Dark Knight and it was like watching the film for the first time.
5 stars all the way!

Nice 4K HDR player with a simple curved design that does the business. Lots of features especially 2 HDMI ports which allows you to send the picture directly to your TV with one port and the other port to send the sound to your AV receiver. Handy if your amp isnt 4K compatible. Remote is small and fiddly especially with no dedicated fast forward/rewind. The chapter search buttons have to be held down instead which can result in selecting the next chapter in error. Tray seems loud when opening/closing. Picture quality is stunning but havent tried it on an HDR TV as yet. Some good apps to use such as 4k netflix etc. USB port for movies/music etc. Quick start menu and nice user interface make this the ideal blu-ray player to purchase for your 4K TV. It is worth the wait :-)

Easy to setup and use, with a good web browser and a variety of pre-installed apps. Outstanding video and sound. With razor sharpness and vivid, bright colors, I did not discern any difference in picture quality between the theatrical version of "The Martian" and my Ultra HD edition. Nice touch with an optional separate HDMI audio output. 4K YouTube videos display at their absolute best on my 60 inch 4K monitor. Min 75" Sony 4K fikk i alle fall maten det trengte for å levere noen fantastiske bilder. Ikke så fornøyd med den buede formen på spilleren men den er skjult i TV benken uansett. Har sett 3 UHD filmer på den hittil der The Revenant var den som virkelig slo pusten ut av meg bildemessig. Har du kjøpt deg stor 4K TV er dette ett must!

Perhaps a bit too sophisticated for me. Can't seem to get the audio and video synced up perfectly. Too many adjustments for the lag time and none of them exactly correct. But my Audio Receiver has a lag adjustment also, so have not determined which witch is the culprit. Both are 4K as is my Samsung TV. (The receiver is not Samsung). The upscaling for the 4K works well and the picture is great! Now if I can just stop thinking I'm in an old Oriental Kung FU movie, I'll be happy.

I've had this Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray player for about 2 weeks, and I've been watching 2 to 3 movies every day since I bought it. I really can't find anything negative to say about it, other than it would've been nice if the remote was backlit. Picture quality is amazing and when you connect it to a home theater receiver the sound quality is amazing as well. It also does an excellent job of upscaling regular Blu-ray discs, and the rest of the other features are very good as well.

Great player and fairly easy to set up. Although my AV receiver is fairly new, I found that connecting the video HDMI directly to my Samsung 65JS9000 TV worked well. The audio HDMI in connected to my home theater receiver. Pass-through the AVR had occasional "hand shake" issues. That is a problem with the AVR not the 4K player. I am still playing with the settings in the TV, and will check the forum for suggestions. Great product and spectacular video! Would buy again!

The performance of this product is exceptional. My only two complaints are that a flagship player should have an led display as does my Samsung bdj7500 Blu-ray player. And the user interface is old and not worthy of a flagship device. Samsung should have used the same ui as on my un55js9000. This device appears to have been engineered without any thought of being a truly flagship device in order to beat the competition to market with the first 4k ultra Blu-ray player.

I got a replacement for this model because some of my "homemade" movies wouldn't work, however the same problem with the replacement. What is odd is my old Samsung blu ray does play those same movies no problem. Other than this issue its a nice machine. The remote doesn't operate as smoothly as I wished (typing in info). All in all it is a nice player.
when the movie didn't play there was no error message to research. Just a blank screen. That was concerning.

This elegant (curved) UHD-BD player/streamer maximizes performance of 9500 55" SUHD (2016). Outperforms the non-Samsung white undulation-curve model UHD DVR (think cable card + subscription service). This player does a good job of playing HDR movies, 3D movies and bluray movies.and up scaling to 4K. The design appears cheap and plastic but functionally it works fine. The instructions on how to add apps or move apps on the player are non existent and need to be added in a firmware update. The on/off light is too small and is very difficult to see from more than a few feet away. The remote is very bad and I ended up using my remote from an older model player.

This is one of very few blu ray players on the market in 2016 that can play 4K UHD HDR blu ray discs, and it does a great job of it. Some of the advertising is a bit misleading, I originally got the 2015 version of this player because I thought it had 4K UHD compatibility, but it cannot play the UHD 4K discs. I returned that one, I think it was a UBD-6500. Otherwise, the feature set & interface are almost identical, this is a great blu ray & media player!!

About a week or so ago, I noticed that theres was loud static coming from my TV while discs were loading. Today, I tried to play a disc and couldn't get any picture to display. I can't even get the home screen to appear. When I first start the player, I can see the 4K UHD logo for a couple of seconds but after that nothing. I now seem to have an expensive paperweight. Guess it's time to navigate Samsung's horribly designed site to put in a service request.

I must admit that when this unit is paired with a 4K TV it is magical. I don't mind spending a little more than usual to see the beauty in the Hi Def movies that are out there. Really amazing to see true black with out blotches, reds that jump off the screen, and yes the rest of the color spectrum is equally incredible.
If you already have a 4K TV this is the best upgrade you can get.

This uhd player being the first to market has packed a punch. The k8500 overall is wonderful, from the feature set to the image quality it produces. The dual hdmi outputs make it a breeze to hook up however you need to. The player itself is very speedy. The only downfall i have with the player is that there is no display to see the time on the unit at all. Overall this is strongly recommended to anyone looking for a uhd player!

4K Blu-Rays are fantastic with this player and the up scaling on standard Blu-Rays is amazing. After I got this player I went back and watch a standard Blu-Ray of Avalon and the picture was so much better that I was truly impressed. Set-up was easy and fast, this player loads DVD's so much faster than my old Sony model did, even the 4K Blu-Rays load fast. Can't find any faults with this unit and it comes with loads of apps.

What I mean it's great for the first Ultra HD Blu-ray Player to be on the market. I played the Ultra HD version of the Reverent on this player and it looked crisp and sharper than a regular Blu-ray player, I own a Oppo BDP-103 blu-ray player and this played blu-rays better than the Oppo. I would definitely recommend this player especially if you own an Ultra 4K Samsung TV like I do, the combination goes well together.

Bought it for the new Samsung 4K TV. Works great. I see it has all the smart stuff, and so does the TV, so I haven't used the apps in the player.
The remote is very miniature and hard to read with out glasses as well as replay just a small frame... 7 months and still trying to figure it out.
It's wonderful to plug in a disk and the TV automatically turns to Blue Ray mode, love this intelligent feature!

I have to say that I watched a 3D movie (The Jungle Book) and was absolutely blown away! This player performs well and provides excellent picture and sound. Remote is very small but works well, not all that necessary with ARC on my 4k TV. I use this unit primarily to watch Blu Ray discs because video rental stores do no carry 4k discs yet. The unit streams well, but noticed that it will loose the connection some times even though WiFi router is close by. Over all very pleased with it.

I couldn't be happier overall with my purchase of this UHD Blu-Ray player. Unfortunately my first unit had an internal fan fault that required an exchange, so my first night wasn't great, but a quick jaunt to the store the next day fixed that. Which is why I fault it in the design area. While digging through what information was available, it seemed like a common issue that was likely to rear up at some point through the life of the unit. Especially if you live in a dusty environment.
Overall though, it's a fully featured (and then some) bit of kit that does not leave you wanting. Easy enough for the layman to use, powerful enough for a professional or avid enthusiast to enjoy.
The only major drawback is the price. You always pay out the nose for being an early adopter, so you have to factor that in. Hopefully it will come down soon so more and more people can justify the purchase.

I purchased the UBD-K8500 to go with the new 65" 8500 TV. The picture quality is amazing. Colors are realistic, detail is pinpoint, and there is no pixilation or artifacts. Another bonus is that with the newer Samsung TVs the connectivity is automatic. Both products can be operated with one remote and switching between DVD, and apps like Netflix are automatic and seamless.
I highly recommend.

Bought a new HDR TV and needed more than streaming with my limited bandwidth. Needless to say this player doesn't disappoint. The two outputs on the back is an awesome feature as it allows this to be used with my passthrough 3d receiver without 4k passthrough. Simple setup the existing HDMI cable from my Blu-ray player to the audio only HDMI then from the video HDMI to the TV. First impression was oh well not to much difference. Then when I took the disc out I realized I had the 1080p regular disc in. Changed it out for the 4k version and wow the colors were way more vivid and the whites were super bright and the blacks were darker so the picture came to life. The movies seemed to jump out of the TV with awesome picture and coupled with the sound made for an unbelievable experience that is a noticeable difference between 1080p and 4k HDR. Would defiantly recommend this to anyone with a HDR set.

This unit does a great job of up-scaling other Blu-Ray and DVDs to look much better than they would otherwise look. The Samsung Smart app gives you access to multiple streaming services including Amazon and Netflix. The UHD movies look amazing on this player. When you see a Blu-Ray and think that is about as clear as it can get watch a UHD movie of the same title and you will be amazed.

After purchasing a 4K Premium TV, I couldn't wait to see what a 4K movie would look like on it. The TV upscaled 1080P material pretty good, but there had to be a difference - just like upscaling DVD movies to 1080P. There is improvement in the blacks and scenes that are inside or night. Plus the color jumps out more.
For a price of the player, you would think that the remote would not be so small. It is so small, that I have a constant problem pressing the wrong button. Not actually the wrong button, but pressing two buttons at once. Samsung doesn't offer an alternative remote. It is frustrating to use the remote. It is like you need to use a stylus pen to operate some of the buttons. It is so bad, that Samsung should replace the remote with a more user friendly remote. Bad engineering on the design of the remote. If the remote was better, I would have had no problem rating everything five stars.

This thing is great. Hooked to my 65js9000 with bd wise. Needed a little adjustment but picture quality is the best I've ever seen. Sound is perfect watched 4K ultra chappie looked amazing and Dolby atmos sounded great. I see people saying the disc is dead but until we can stream better audio codecs I'll stick to discs. I'm a fan of good big speakers not much on soundbar gimmick.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray player is a great product. If you have the 4K TV already, you should complete the package and get this player. It made a wonderful difference in watching our movies,. The first thing that I noticed was that the Disc menu would come up quicker than our old player and 10 times faster than our 400 disc players. That is a real plus. The picture quality is as expected. Like the TV, the picture is fantastic. The colors are amazing and the clarity and details are excellent. I am very happy with this player. The only two items I gave 4 stars to was the design and the price. It is a little pricey, but then so are the other competitors out there. By comparison, this player is a bargain. Also, I did not think the curve on this unit was necessary. There is no function for the curve other than to match the TV, so I believe it is superfluous. Other than that, this player is excellent, and I recommend it.

I really like the system and quality picture. There are a few things I did not like. It is too noisy when its reading disk. The disk eject is fast and out dated. It should eject much smoother. The remote "Home" button should be located elsewhere. When I am almost finished entering information, I keep hitting the home button by accident and I have to start all over.

Set up to get 4K output with a non Samsung, non HDR 4K TV was trial and error and involved turning off the 24 frame setting in video settings. There needs to be better and more detailed information for the settings to be used for non HDR and non Samsung products.
Once the first hurdle was passed, the picture was very nice for 4K, standard blue ray and DVD's.

I've only watched Revenant and Ender's Game (because there are so few 4K titles available), but even ordinary DVDs and Blu-rays look better on Samsung's 4K Blu-ray player. I'm watching it on the 2015 model Samsung 78" curved screen S-UHD, which is also unbelievable. Every time I turn it on I think: 'This is incredible. How could I ever want a better picture?"

The UBD-8500K was easy to set up using the enclosed optical cable. All of the applications that I wanted were already included. The application that I did not want were easy to remove.
I used my Logitech Harmony so I have not had much experience with the included remote, except during setup.
I am pleased with the quality of both DVD and Blu-ray playback.

The Xbox one slim that is coming out has HDMI 2.0 witch means it can display 4k 60 fps with a blue-ray drive and it has support for HDR. the XBOX also supports upscaling and 3d video playback So with the Xbox s you get this and you can play your games on it and its similar in size. Samsung used to be my favorite company but now there just very overpriced.

This player's video is excellent.
The issue I have is, the player does not output audio to the TV via its HDMI output. The audio only HDMI transfers the audio the my receiver, but without the receiver, I have no audio - nothing comes out of the TV. The TV's audio worked fine with my other BlueRay player. What gives?

Never knew a Bluray could be improved until I got this player! The up scaling is amazing! The only down side so far is how dark the 4K Bluray's look. The design is absolutely stunning. Other reviews have complained about the remote and I'm not sure why, I absolutely love it being smaller. I hate big bulky remotes with buttons on them that you never use!!

That said, the app interface needs work. the pre-loaded recommended "Apps" cannot be edited (order displayed) nor added to the "MyApps" area. Not a major issue as it merely requires more clicks to get to the desired operation; however, it is just such a wart on an otherwise decent device.

I really like this player. I hooked it up to an LG 4K UHDTV. My only complaint so far is the REMOTE to the SAMSUNG 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player is TOO SMALL. While trying to re log into all of my apps, I kept getting sent to the Home Screen because the home button was right on top of the UP arrow. So trying to log into PANDORA or VUDU was not easy.

I noticed on my first movie that when I stopped and later went back to play again it didn't resume from where I left off. After doing some research I found that most 4K Blu-ray movies don't resume and that it was not the fault of the player.

This is my first 4k UHD player but it is very nice. SAMSUNG GUI is ok but performance is great. Colors and contrast are awesome. 4k BD are so much better than Regular R BD. I have had to rewatch many of My Blu Ray movies because they just look so much better. Set up was easy and quick. Load time was also fast. Nice player you can't go wrong.

I love this Blu-Ray as it the first 4K on the market,, There are a small amount of 4K Blu-rays movies available and you can find them on Amazing by searching 4k or UltraHD, There many apps on this system and I love how it up-scales movies that are not in 4K so your overall viewing quality is better, Must have for anyone that has a 4K TV.

The player is great so far. The only problem I had was registering. I had to look up model number for it to accept the serial number then it would not allow me to put correct purchase date of January 10, 2017 because it only went up to 2016. So in order to be able to register I put December 31, 2016. Registration site needs improvement.

Easy to set up and great built-in apps. Just can't wait till more 4K content is out. I don't recall the last time I purchased an actual player, but I was surprised it did not come with any HDMI nor optical cables. For the price, it would be nice to include the basic components. Blu-ray Movies play well from this and shows well on 4k tv.

This is the best Ultra HD player I own. Best picture and best features I have it playing on a Samsung 2016 55 inch 4K ultra HD TV and the picture Quailty is awesome. Great price for an exceptional product on the 4K Ultra HD Blue Ray player and the TV. I reccomend both to anyone wanting the best picture and features for the best price.

I replaced an older Samsung player, due to a lightning strike (without Wifi), with the K8500. The difference was unbelievable. Not the cheapest player but I wanted a Samsung to go with my Samsung TV and Soundbar so I didn't have multiple remotes. I'm happy with the purchase so far and ordering on line direct from Samsung was great.

I haven't had any issues or problems with this player. I don't mind that it doesn't display the time on the front of the player because it's in an av rack and you can just press the info button on the remote to see it on the screen. I've read that no one likes the remote, but I just use my remote from my other samsung player.

This has nice features and is easy to use. There are not many options for 4K Blue-ray players but this does the job. Great pictures.. It is pretty expensive but I understand this is new technology. The remote has very limited function and fast forward, reverse, are difficult to use. I would expect much more at the price.

Used it three or four times, now when I turn it on, there are all these lines through the bottom of of the screen. It is not my TV, tv works fine with Apple TV and live TV. Tried using different HDMI cables, and inputs, it is definitely just a poor quality blue ray player that has conked out after watching three movies.

I've had other Blu-ray players but this was my first Ultra 4K model. The set up and connect ability was straight forward. The picture quality is amazing with great color, clarity, and definition.
I don't know why I didn't purchase one of these sooner. It is a great compliment to my Samsung 55" Ultra HD 4K television.

Easy to set up and begin watching movies. Its light, good looking, with many features. Gave it 4 stars for overall rating due to IMO remote control is too small. Why does Samsung make their remotes so small. Have dropped my remotes for my Samsung curved TVs many times. I'm sure it will be the same with this 4K player.

This Blu-ray player is a must if you own 4K UHD TV with HDR. The 4K UHD discs look amazing quite a notable difference. Even regular 1080 Blu-ray disc look quite nice on this player. The player is a bit pricey right now but if you don't mind spending the money to enjoy high picture quality, then I say go for it.

The player displays an awesome 4K picture with Netflix and Amazon and the 4K BluRay was also crystal clear and lived up to my expectations.
The remote is a little difficult for a person with big fingers like myself. The apps could have been made easier to move around but I can overlook both for the picture.

The only thing I see that can be improved is the price coming down. That will happen with competition. Otherwise, the unit was very easy to set up. Make sure the HDMI is matched and that you update the units firmware which is easy to do. I have used to watch 4K, blu-ray upscale and 3D. All worked fine.

This Blu-Ray Player has it all! Virtually every feature one could hope for, slick design, and excellent performance. Although the Product Packaging does not specify 3D capability (2017 version), it in fact has it built in. 4K and 3D capabilities were a hard requirement to pair with our new 4K/3D TV, and this was one of the few on the market that provide these features.
A few minor drawbacks: The player can be a bit noisy at times (when the disc is spinning during searches or when disc is initially inserted). The remote is considerably lacking. It only offers a 'Skip Back( |<< ) or Skip Forward ( >>| ) button and lacks a separate control for just Fast Reverse and Fast Forward. Also - we generally enjoy it at night when the room is darkened - remote is all black and not back-lit, which makes it almost impossible to use without leveraging a flashlight.
All-in-all, I would still recommend this Player to anyone looking for a quality unit to play disc-based media type on the market.

Been pretty satisfied with this unit once I was comfortable with the settings in it. Being the first 4k uhd blu ray player out there for the masses there was a learning curve as far as settings go between a uhd blu ray and a standard blu ray. Once I got that down I've been very happy with my purchase.

Easy to use, appealing design, lots of features and of course the sought after 4K Blu-ray disk compatibility and true 4K output. 2 hdmi outputs allow one to go directly to the 4K TV to maintain the 4k quality and one to go to the receiver to provide the Dolby Digital TruHD sound quality to go with it

There aren't a lot of UHD HDR Blu-ray players on the market. With that being said, Samsung's UBD-K8500 has met my high level of expectation. Since I don't have anything to compare the HDR UHD blu-ray content to, I simply will say that I am satisfied with the picture quality and the quick load times.

This Blu-ray is very easy to use. I have all the apps in it that I use right there in front of me. The Sony Blu-ray I had before wouldn't even let me watch Netfix. The viewing quality is great. I was surprised the remote is so small, but it has everything I need. Samsung is a business I can trust.

The unit works well and does what it is designed to do. It produces 4k in all its glory, but at an expensive price. I have a 2014 samsung tv that needs an evolution box to use hdr capabilities. I will have 800 dollars spent just to watch 4k movies. The only game in town for true 4k media though.

The product actually great especially in UHD 4K mode. But the only issue right now for me is that it stopped working for no reason at all. I believe I've only used this for about 6x times watching 4K movies and now it does not turning on anymore (no power) Sadly it is now out of warranty :-(

So far I have used this to watch Batman V Superman and Deadpool 4K. The picture quality is top notch. I wish they would have went away from the curved design, but it isn't a complete eye sore. I also wish they had Vudu 4k compatability. Overall I would recommend this Uhd blu-ray player.

This player is great with great picture quality , upscales regular blu ray disc's to near 4K quality. Very fast loading times. I have 2 complaints the remote is to small and not well designed - there is no LED front panel to show the movie status. I would highly recommend this player.

My only issue so far is I have not been able to sign in to my Samsung account on the player, nor have I been able to access AmazonPrime to view their free movies. Not sure whether it is a wi-fi problem or that I can't scroll and choose the correct charcters on the on screen keyboard.

"upgraded" from BDF7500, this unit has way to many random errors. Netflix, drops signal as you scroll. Use dnla, initially worked wired, sees NAS drives. Then only wireless! Now I get random reboots and DNLA transition no longer available. Avoid like the plague, buyers regret.

This product is easy to use, the quality is great, and all the apps make watching what I need to easier. I love Samsung products and this has disappointed me yet. The features are amazing and setups are not complicated. If you are wabeing a 4k device this would be it for you.

I have to say this player is AMAZING perfect picture quality. The load time on discs is super fast even though my Samsung TV isn't HDR, the picture quality is still beautiful I have the hu8550 model with evolution upgrade I highly recommend this player to anyone 5 ***** Stars
