How to Wake Up Your Samsung Gear S

When your Samsung Gear S goes to sleep, you can wake it up using either the Power key or by setting the motion sensor to recognize the Wake-up gesture.

Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Use the Power Key to Wake Up

To wake up your device, press the Power key, located on the front of the device.

Use the Wake-up Gesture to Wake Up

The device may not wake up if you are leaning back or lying down.

With the Wake-up gesture turned on, you can wake up the device by raising your arm and looking at the Gear's screen.

Turn On the Wake-up Gesture

Turning on this feature will consume battery power, as it is constantly using the motion sensor to detect movement.

  1. From the Clock screen, swipe up to access the Apps menu.

                                           

  2. Touch Settings.

                                

  3. Touch Motions

                                

  4. Mark the Wake-up gesture checkbox.

                                 

You can also turn on the Wake-up gesture from your mobile device.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

                                          

  2. Touch Samsung Gear.

                                 

  3. Touch Settings.

                                             

                                    

  4. Touch Motions.

                                  

  5. Touch Wake-up gesture and touch the slider to turn it on.

                                        

• If you feel discomfort while using the device, stop using it and remove it from your wrist.
• To avoid device malfunction, skin discomfort or damage, and battery draining, an initial warning will appear on the device if it reaches a specific temperature.
• If the device temperature continues to rise, a second warning will appear, and all device functions except outgoing 911 calls will be turned off.
• If you are on a call with 911 when the second warning appears, the call will remain active until you end it.
• If the device temperature rises further, a third warning will appear, and the entire device will shut down. Any 911 call that is connected at the time will remain active until you end the call.
• However, no new calls, including 911 calls, can be made until the device cools down to a specific temperature.
