Smart Switch for iOS 9 or Lower

Use Smart Switch on iOS 9 or Lower

Congrats on your new phone! To make transitioning to your Galaxy phone even easier, the Smart Switch app lets you seamlessly transfer all your content from your previous iOS phone (iOS 9 or lower). Just install Smart Switch Mobile on your new phone, and you'll be good to go. You don't need to install Smart Switch on the iOS phone, only on the Android phone.

The Smart Switch Mobile app only partially supports iCloud® backups made using iOS 9.

If you created a backup using iOS 9, you will be able to transfer your Contacts, Calendar, Photos, and Videos only.

To transfer other kinds of content, please connect to your old phone using an OTG cable or Smart Switch for PC/Mac.

Transfer Content from iCloud (iOS)

iTunes music and videos cannot be transferred from iCloud. Use Smart Switch for PC or Mac to transfer iTunes music. iTunes videos are encrypted and cannot be transferred.

iCloud Backup

To make sure all your latest content is ready to be transfered to your new phone, you'll need to back up your previous iOS device first. We'll walk you through it:

On your iOS phone, navigate to Settings and then touch iCloud. Next, swipe to and touch Back Up Now. Your contacts, photos, videos, and calender events will be backed up.

Note: If you are not familiar with using iCloud, learn more about iCloud setup. If you don't have an iCloud account, you can transfer your content using a Micro USB to USB adapter or Samsung Smart Switch for PC/Mac®.

Now you're ready to transfer the content from your iOS phone's iCloud backup to your new phone. Here's how:

Open Smart Switch on the new phone, and then touch WIRELESS. Touch RECEIVE, and then select iOS. Enter your Apple ID and password, and then touch SIGN IN. Select the content you want to transfer, and then touch IMPORT. The files on your iOS phone will begin transferring to your new phone.

Transfer Content via Micro USB to USB Adapter (OTG Cable)

If you are transferring a large amount of data, use the Wi-Fi transfer method so you can charge both phones during the transfers.

You can also use a USB cable to transfer content between your old iOS phone and your new Galaxy phone. However, you will need both the iOS cable that came with your old phone and a MicroUSB to USB adapter (OTG cable).

Open Smart Switch on both phones, and then select USB CABLE. Connect the two phones using the old iOS phone's lightning cable and the USB-OTG adapter that came with your new phone. Touch Trust on the iOS phone. Touch NEXT on the new phone. Select the content you want to transfer, and then touch TRANSFER.

Note: You can purchase the MicroUSB adapter on Samsung.com.
