Setting up your 2016 SUHD TV (UN**KS*)

Getting a new TV is exciting, but first you have to set it up. This guide can help you get through the initial setup so you can start enjoying your new TV!

Make sure to connect your One Connect Box before powering on the TV.

Follow the steps below to set up your SUHD TV. Depending on the devices you want to connect to your TV some of the steps may vary.

The One Connect Box does not fit on the back of the TV. You can place it on a stand near the TV or if your TV is mounted, you can purchase velcro strips and attach the One Connect Box to a wall.

Select Your Language

Before beginning your setup decide whether you are using a Set-Top box or an Antenna for your TV Signal.

  1. Select the language you would like to use. The word "Welcome" appears in the language you prefer. English is selected as default. Use the directional button to select your language and press the center of the directional button to move to the next step.

  2. Next you will see a brief introduction to the new Samsung Smart Control remote. Click Next to continue

  3. TV Setup Made Easy appears. Before moving on, connect any devices you need to connect to your TV. Once all of you devices are connected, click Next.

To continue the initial setup process continue to 2. Select your Network below:

If you do not wish to connect the TV to a network select the arrow in the upper right hand corner of the screen to skip the network setup.

Wireless Connection

If you are using a wireless connection continue with the steps below:

  1. The TV searches for wireless networks near the TV. Once complete the TV will display found networks. Select your network.

  2. Next you will need to enter the password to connect to the network you selected. Use the arrow buttons to highlight the characters in your password and then press Enter to select each one.

    Be sure to highlight Done after you have entered the last character of your password. Then press Enter.

  3. Your TV will attempt to connect to your network and access the Samsung servers.

    • If there is no issue with the network connection you will see the above screen:

    •  If there is a Network connection issue the Network Status window will appear.

    • If you can't resolve your network issue please CONTACT US.

  4. To be able to use many of the different Smart Features built into your TV you will need to accept the Smart Hub Terms, Conditions, & Privacy Policy. Select "I agree to all" after you read and agree with the terms and policies, then navigate to OK and press Enter.

    If you do not consent to the Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy you will not be able to use applications and some of the Smart Features on your TV.

  5. The on-screen guide will continue. In this step you will be asked to enter your zip code to help with the setup of the TV. This is used to find the service providers in your area.  

Now skip down to "3. Select Your Signal" to continue the setup.

Wired Connection

If you are using a wired connection continue with the steps below:

  1.  Connect an Ethernet cable to the back of the TV.  

  2.  Your TV will attempt to connect to your network and then access the Samsung servers.

    • If there is no issue with the network connection you will see the above screen:

    •  If there is a Network connection issue the Network Status window will appear.

    • If you can't resolve your network issue please CONTACT US.

  3. To be able to use many of the different Smart Features built into your TV you will have to accept the Smart Hub Terms, Conditions, & Privacy Policy. Select I agree to all if you agree to all of the terms and conditions listed then navigate to OK and press Enter.

  4. The on-screen guide will continue. In this step you will be asked to enter your zip code to help with the setup of the TV. This is used to find the service providers in your area.

  5. Move to "3. Select Your Signal" below to continue the setup.

Select Your Signal

The next step in the Initial Setup is to select the source of your live TV signal.

  • Cable or Satellite Box: Select this option if you use a Satellite or Cable box that connects via HDMI, Component, or Composite.

  • Antenna: Select this option if you use an Over the Air Antenna or a Direct Cable Line.

  • I don't receive a TV signal: Select this option if you aren't going to connect a Live TV source, and just want to use apps and external devices.

Cable or Satellite Box

Follow these steps to set up the STB connection:

  1. Use the arrow buttons to select Cable or Satellite Box.  

  2. Select the port that the Cable or Satellite box is connected to.

  3. You will see a list of Service Providers based on the Zip code entered earlier in the setup. Select your service provider.

    If you do not see your provider select "My service provider is not listed". You will not be able to use the built-in guide if you select this option.

  4. Select Start Smart Hub Connection Test.  

     A screen displays stating that you can set up the universal remote function with the Smart Control remote.

  5. Next you are given the option to register your TV. Press Select to enter your Samsung account email address and then click I Agree.

  6. You have completed the setup.  

Antenna (Over the Air or Direct Line) Connection

Follow these steps to set up your channels through an Antenna connection:

  1. Use the arrow buttons on your Samsung remote to select Antenna.

  2.  The TV searches for Antenna and Cable channels available through the Coax connection. This process can take up to 20 minutes. When the Auto Program is done scanning for channels. Select Next and the on-screen guide will continue.

    Selecting Scan Again will restart the Auto programming process.

  3. Next you are given the option to register your TV. Press Select to enter your Samsung account email address and then click I Agree.

  4. You have completed the Initial setup. Select Start Watching TV to start using the TV.  

I don't receive TV signal

If you aren't connecting any form of live TV and just want to connect external devices like game consoles, or enjoy the apps on your TV select this option and your setup is complete.
