Insert and remove a microSD card from your tablet
In case you need more storage space, your tablet lets you use a microSD or microSDHC card to expand its memory. This secure digital card lets you exchange pictures, music, and data with SD compatible devices.
Insert a microSD card
Note: If your SD card is not being detected by your tablet, it may be in a different file form or may be damaged.
There are two different ways to insert the microSD card into your tablet depending if you have a slot, stacked tray, or tray.
If your tablet has a slot, open the microSD card slot cover, and then insert the microSD card. If your tablet has a stacked tray or tray, use the ejector tool that came with your tablet to remove the tray. If you do not have an ejector tool, you can use an object like a pin or paper clip that can fit through the hole to push the tray out. Place the card on the tray, and then insert the tray back in.
For more detailed information, check your tablet's user manual. You can download user manuals for your tablet from Galaxy Tabs Support.
Unmount a microSD card
Note: To prevent damage to information stored on the memory card, always unmount the card before removing it from the tablet. Unmounting an SD card may stop some apps from functioning until you mount the SD card again.
Before you remove the microSD card, you'll need to unmount it first.
Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Storage.
Tap SD card, and then tap More Options > Storage settings.
Tap the Eject icon to unmount the microSD card.
Finally, you can safely remove the microSD card from your tablet.
