Uninstall and Turn Off Apps on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Don't use an app anymore? Uninstall or disable the app to clear up space on your S7 or S7 edge and leave your Apps tray looking cleaner and more organized. You can also learn how to Clear App Data and Cache to improve speed and clear up space on your phone.

Uninstall Downloaded Apps

Out with the old, in with the new. Make room for new apps by uninstalling apps you no longer use. Read on to learn how.

Preloaded apps (apps built into your device) cannot be uninstalled. You can only turn off or hide them.

From the Apps Menu

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.  

  2. Touch More Options.  

  3. Touch Edit.  

  4.  To uninstall, touch Uninstall/Disable on the downloaded app.  

  5. Touch OK.  

From Settings

  1. Navigate to and touch Apps > Settings.  

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Apps.    

    • Transform: crop and resize, as well as flip or rotate.

    • Tone: change the brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, and temperature.

    • Effects: put a filter on the image.

    • Decoration: overlay another image, sticker, or label on the initial image.

    Touch the app you want to uninstall.  

  3. Touch UNINSTALL.  

  4. To confirm, touch OK.   

    Apps preloaded on your device cannot be uninstalled, but you can uninstall any updates you have applied to its factory version.

Turn Off Preloaded Apps

Your S7 and S7 Edge come preloaded with certain apps. If you don't want them hangin' around, just turn them off. It's easy to do.

After an app is turned off, it will be hidden and will not be accessible until it is turned back on.

From the Apps Menu

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.  

  2. Touch More Options.  

  3. Touch Edit.  

  4.  To turn the app off, touch Uninstall/Disable on the preloaded app.  

  5. To confirm, touch DISABLE.  

From Settings

  1. Navigate to and touch Apps > Settings.  

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Apps.    

  3. Touch the preloaded app you want to disable.  

  4. Touch DISABLE.  

  5. To confirm, touch DISABLE.

    Some apps cannot be disabled.
