Format the microSD Card on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

To add additional memory space to your device, you can use a microSD (not included). When you format a microSD card, you are preparing it to store your files safely and securely. Oh, and FYI: Galaxy S7 and S7 edge support up to 256GB expandable memory storage.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Format a microSD Card

You've got files, your microSD card's got storage. Learn how to format the microSD card right here.

To prevent data loss, back up your stored music and photo files when formatting a SD card.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Storage.

  3. Touch More Options.

  4. Touch Storage settings.

  5. Touch SD card.

  6. Touch Format.   

  7. Touch FORMAT.
