Galaxy S8 & S8+ Location Settings

Maps and GPS are two essential features everyone uses. If you haven’t caught on yet, get on track by turning on location services. You can turn location services off anytime or adjust the settings to improve accuracy or to save battery. You’ll always know where you’re going when you turn on Location.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Turn On Location

Want to know where the closest gas station is? Location settings let you choose how your phone determines your location.

From Settings

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Location.

  3. To turn on Location, touch the slider.

From the Notification Panel

  1. To open the Notification Panel, swipe down from the top of the screen.

  2. To turn on Location, touch Location.

Turn Off Location

From Settings

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Location.

  3. To turn off Location, touch the slider.

From the Notification Panel

  1. To open the Notification Panel, swipe down from the top of the screen.

  2. To turn off Location, touch Location.

Select Locating Method

You can select the accuracy level of your device's locating method. Just follow the steps below.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Location.

  3. Touch Locating method.

  4. Choose the desired Locating method:

    • High accuracy: Uses GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks to estimate your location.

    • Battery Saving: Uses Wi-Fi and mobile networks to estimate your location.

    • Phone only: Uses GPS to estimate your location.
