Get to Know the Camera on Galaxy S8 & S8+

Your phone features both front- and rear-facing cameras, which let you capture everything from landscapes, portraits, panoramas, and of course, that perfect selfie. Did we mention it also takes high-quality videos? Edit photos and videos directly on your phone and share on social media. We’re so ready for our close-up.

Camera Settings

Access all the neat features your camera has to offer, and get to taking photos like a pro. Learn how to change your camera settings right here.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To configure settings for the Camera, touch Settings.

  3. Adjust the following to the desired settings.

    Available options vary depending on the camera or recording mode used.

Resolutions

Want to make some adjustments? You can change the resolution for the rear and front cameras in a few easy steps. This way, you have total control over the way your photos and videos look. You’re the boss.

Rear Camera

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To configure settings for the Camera, touch Settings.

  3. To change the resolution of the Rear camera, touch Picture size under REAR CAMERA for photo resolution, and Video size for video resolution.

  4. Choose the desired Picture size or Video size.

Front Camera

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To configure settings for the Camera, touch Settings.

  3. To change the resolution of Front camera, touch Picture size under FRONT CAMERA for photo resolution, and Video size for video resolution.

  4. Choose the desired Picture size or Video size.

Panorama

Create a linear image by taking pictures in either a horizontal or vertical direction. Perfect for catching a sunset or rainbow, or when you want to look extra tall!

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To access Camera modes, swipe to the right.

  3. Touch Panorama.

    Panorama mode is only available for the Rear camera.

  4. To start taking a panorama picture, touch Capture.

  5. Move the device slowly in one direction until the capture is complete.

    You can stop taking the panorama picture by touching Stop.

Hyperlapse

It’s just like in the movies. Create your own time lapse video by setting your phone on Hyperlapse. The camera alternates the number of shots per second by slowing down then speeding up again—also known as the frame rate. It does all the work for you! The frame rate is automatically adjusted depending on the scene being recorded and the phone’s movement.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To access Camera modes, swipe to the right.

  3. Touch Hyperlapse.

    Hyperlapse mode is only available for the Rear camera.

  4. To start recording a hyperlapse video, touch Record.

  5. To stop recording, touch Stop.
