Set a Screen Lock on Galaxy S8 and S8+
Keep your phone away from prying eyes, and make it secure by setting up a screen lock. You can also create your own passcode and adjust lock settings like automatic screen turn-off. Your phone will stay safe even if a nosy friend gets their hands on it.
Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.
Change the Screen Lock Type
If you want a security system that's an oldie but goodie, you can choose from creating a password, PIN, or a pattern. Or, if you want to be more high-tech, you can even use your face or irises to verify your identity! Check out all the screen lock types below, and take your pick.
From Settings, search for and select Screen lock type. The following screen lock options are available:
Swipe: Swipe the screen to unlock it.
Pattern: Create a pattern that you draw on the screen to unlock your device.
PIN: Select a PIN to use for unlocking the screen.
Password: Create a password for unlocking the screen.
None: Do not lock the screen.
Face: Use facial recognition to unlock your device.
Iris: Use iris recognition to unlock the screen.
Fingerprints: Use fingerprint recognition to unlock the screen.
Secure Lock Settings
Prevent someone from sneaking a peek at your personal information. Use your phone's secure lock settings and automatically lock it when the screen turns off.
From Settings, search for and select Secure lock settings.
Note: Secure lock settings are only available when the lock is set.
Enter your secure lock information. To change the secured lock time, touch Lock automatically. Choose the desired secured lock time.
