Use SideSync on your PC or Mac
Have you ever wished you had access to calls or texts on your laptop, instead of switching back and forth all the time? Well, you can get that kind of access with SideSync. Once you connect your phone to a computer using this app, you'll be able to make calls and respond to messages right on your PC or Mac.
Note: The Galaxy S9 or later and the Tab S3 or later do not support SideSync. We recommend using Samsung Flow instead.
Set up SideSync
Stop going back and forth between devices. Use SideSync to consolidate all your work together.
First, make sure SideSync is installed and open on both the PC and the phone. Also make sure that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
From either device, tap the name under Available devices. Tap OK on both devices to confirm the connection.
Make a call from your PC or Mac
You have an important call to make but you don't have a minute to take your eyes off your screen. You can set SideSync to dial a call from your PC or Mac.
From SideSync on the PC or Mac, tap the Phone shortcut. Select your desired contact or use the keypad to enter a number. Next, tap Dial. After the call is connected, use the phone to talk to the other person.
If there is an incoming call, you will be notified with a popup message. SideSync will also become temporarily disabled while the call is in progress. You will need to answer the call on your phone.
Note: If you don't see the Phone shortcut on your SideSync dashboard, click the Plus icon, click Phone, and then click Add.
Manage text messages on your PC or Mac
If typing on a keyboard is easier for you, you can send and receive text messages directly from your PC or Mac.
On the SideSync on the PC or Mac, tap the Messages shortcut. From there, send a message the way you normally would.
When you receive a text message, it will appear on the SideSync dashboard. Simply tap the text message you want to view.
Note: If you don't see the Messages shortcut on your SideSync dashboard, click the Plus icon, click Messages, and then click Add.
Copy, paste, and share text using your PC or Mac
With SideSync, you can type, copy, and paste texts directly onto your phone using your PC or Mac!
On the SideSync on the PC or Mac, tap the Samsung Notes shortcut. Use the keyboard to enter text into the phone's Samsung Notes.
If you copy or cut a text on your PC or Mac, you will get a popup message confirming the copy. Simply paste the copied text into Samsung Notes. When finished, tap Save.
You can use other functions like brush, pen, or even add an image on Samsung Notes while both your devices are connected to SideSync.
Note: If you don't see the Samsung Notes shortcut on your SideSync dashboard, click the Plus icon, click Samsung Notes, and then click Add.
Send your phone's files to your PC or Mac
SideSync lets you drag and drop files between your phone and PC or Mac. It's almost the same as when you drag and drop files to different folders on your computer.
From SideSync on your PC or Mac, click the Gallery shortcut. Browse through the pictures you want to copy. Select your desired file(s); click and hold your mouse there for a few seconds. When you see the SideSync icon appear over your mouse, drag the file to your desired location on your computer, such as your Desktop.
Note: If you don't see the Gallery shortcut on your SideSync dashboard, click the Plus icon, click Gallery, and then click Add.
Transfer a file from your PC or Mac
Yes, you can do the opposite too: transfer files that were on your computer to your phone!
On your computer, open the location of the file you want to copy to your phone. Select and hold your desired file, and then drag it to the Drag and drop file here to share window on the SideSync dashboard. The file will be saved in the SideSync folder on your phone. When the file is transferred, a notification will appear on the computer.
Note: You can send a folder containing several files or send an individual file. You can also send several files or folders at the same time.
Share your mouse and keyboard
Do you know what else SideSync can do? Let you use your PC's or Mac's mouse and keyboard on your phone.
From the SideSync dashboard on the computer, click MORE, and then click Enable Keyboard and mouse sharing. Move your mouse pointer to the far left or far right side, off of the computer screen. The mouse pointer will then appear on the phone.
SideSync makes multi-tasking incredibly simple. Use these additional features to get the most out of SideSync.
If the text on the phone's screen is too small, use Full screen mode to make it bigger.
From the SideSync dashboard on your PC or Mac, click Phone screen, and then click Maximize on the top bar (the four arrows).
Always on top
If you want to keep your SideSync dashboard on top of all your other windows, turn on this feature.
From SideSync on your PC or Mac, click Phone screen, and then click the drop-down menu. Click Always on top.
Would you prefer to see that screen in Landscape mode? No worries, you can change the screen orientation as needed.
From the SideSync dashboard on your PC or Mac, click Phone screen, and then click the drop-down menu. Finally, click Rotate. You can keep clicking Rotate to complete a 360-degree turn.
Adjust the SideSync dashboard's transparency level from 15-100 percent.
From SideSync on your PC or Mac, click Phone screen, and then click the drop-down menu. Click Window transparency, and then use the slider to adjust the transparency level.
Capture is a SideSync feature that let's you take screenshots of your phone's screen.
From the SideSync dashboard on your PC or Mac, click Phone screen, and then click the drop-down menu. Finally, click Capture. This captured image will be stored in your computer's Downloads folder.
Enable Presentation mode
Presentation mode lets you use both devices independently from each other. For example, you can open an app on your phone and still use other programs on your connected computer. This will make giving a presentation much easier because you won't have to switch between your two devices - hence, the reason it's called Presentation mode.
From the SideSync dashboard on your PC or Mac, click Phone screen, and then click the drop-down menu. Next, click Enable Presentation mode.
