Unlock Galaxy S8 Active With the On Screen Home Button

Are you trying to unlock your S8 Active but can’t find the Home button? No worries! Read the following articles on how to unlock your new phone!

On-Screen Home Button

Instead of a physical Home button, the Galaxy S8 Active now have an on-screen Home button that is always available.

  • To access your lock screen, touch and hold the On-Screen Home button until the lock screen appears.

    If the function is not working, try applying more pressure with your finger on the screen.

You can also set your phone to skip the lock screen entirely when you touch and hold the On-Screen Home button.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, and then search for and select Navigation bar.

  3. Touch the slider next to Unlock with Home button.

  4. You can also set how hard you need to touch the Home button to unlock your phone. Touch and drag the slider under Home button sensitivity to the left to reduce the amount of pressure needed. Drag the slider to the right to increase the amount of pressure needed.

Use the Fingerprint Reader

To use the Fingerprint Reader to unlock your phone, you will need to setup the fingerprint scanner first.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, and then search for and select Fingerprint Scanner.

  3. Touch CONTINUE.

  4. You will need to setup a lock screen before you continue. Touch the desired lock screen type. For this example, touch PIN.

  5. Enter a PIN and then touch Done.

  6. Re-enter the PIN and then touch Done.

  7. To scan your fingerprint, place a finger on the fingerprint scanner, lift if off, and then repeat.  Make sure to move your finger to the left or right every time you lift it up.

  8. When the scan is complete, touch DONE.

  9. To use your fingerprint to unlock your phone, touch TURN ON.

  10. Now you can unlock your phone with your fingerprint, even if the screen is turned off.

Home Button AOD

Always On Display (AOD) is the screen that appears before the lock screen. You can customize this screen to show the Home button, the clock, or both.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, and then search for and select Always On Display.

  3. Touch Content to show.

  4. 4. Select the desired content. For this example, touch Home button and clock or information.
