Use the 2 Step Unlock

Using the 2 Step Unlock simply means swiping the lock screen, and then entering your pin, pattern, or password. 2 Step Unlock started when Android OS 6.0 (Marshmallow) was released. If you'd like to bypass 2 Step Unlock, try setting up biometric authentication.

When the lock is not set to Swipe, you will be required to swipe the screen before the unlock option appears. A biometric lock will bypass the 2 Step Unlock and take you straight to the home screen.
