Phone Keeps Rebooting

Seemingly random or constant reboots are often caused by software malfunction on the device. Follow the guides below to troubleshoot this issue.

Update System Software

  1. Navigate to and open Settings.

  2. Touch About Device and then touch Software Update.

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install any updates that are available.

  4. After the update, the device will reboot. Use the device normally to see if the problem is solved.

  5. If the device is still rebooting, continue with Safe Mode below.

Boot Into Safe Mode

  1. Power the phone off and power it back on.

  2. Press and hold the Volume Down key when the Samsung logo appears.

  3. The phone is now in Safe mode. Safe mode will appear in the lower left corner of the screen.

  4. To exit Safe mode, simply reboot the phone. 

  5. If the device keeps rebooting, continue with Uninstall Apps below.

Uninstall Apps

  1. Navigate to and open Settings.

  2. Touch Apps.

  3. Locate an App you’d like to uninstall and click it.

  4. Touch Uninstall.

  5. Use the device normally for a few hours and evaluate the stability.

  6. If the device continues to reboot, try installing more downloaded Apps or continue with a Factory Data Reset.

Perform a Factory Data Reset

  1. Navigate to and open Settings.

  2. Search for and touch Factory Data Reset.

  3. Touch Reset Device then follow the prompts to complete the reset.

  4. The device will reboot and you will need to go through the initial set up.

  5. If the issue still persists after following the steps above, the device will need service.
