Manage Apps on Galaxy Note8

Looking for new apps or want to get rid of ones you don’t use? Learn how to download, uninstall, and disable apps here. You can also manage app permissions to grant or prevent access to other apps.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Download Apps

Download apps made just for Samsung from Galaxy Apps and all other apps from the Play Store. Read on to learn how to expand your app library.

From Galaxy Apps

  1. Navigate to Apps > Samsung folder > Galaxy Apps.

  2. Use the Search bar to search for specific apps or choose a category of your preference to find apps.

  3. Touch the app you want to download.

  4. Touch INSTALL.

  5. After installation completes, touch OPEN to access the app. Installed apps are automatically added to Apps.

From the Play Store

  1. Navigate to Apps > Play Store.

  2. Use the Search bar to search for specific apps or choose a category of your preference to find apps.

  3. Touch the app you want to download.

  4. Touch INSTALL.

  5. After installation completes, touch OPEN to access the app. Installed apps are automatically added to Apps.

Uninstall Apps

No longer using an app? Free up some space on your phone by deleting it. Here’s how to do it:

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.

  2. Touch and hold an app until the options menu opens.

  3. Touch Uninstall.

  4. Touch OK.

Disable Preloaded Apps

Certain apps are preloaded onto your phone for convenience. While you cannot delete these apps, you can disable them by following a few simple steps.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.

  2. Touch and hold an app until the options menu opens.

  3. Touch Disable.

  4. Touch DISABLE and confirm to disable the app.

Manage App Permissions

App permissions grant access to other features of your phone like camera, contacts, location, and more. Follow the instructions below to enable or disable app permissions.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Search, and search for and select Apps.

  3. Touch the desired app.

  4. Touch Permissions.

  5. View and manage APP PERMISSIONS using the sliders.
