Customize your photos with My Filters on your Galaxy phone
You love using filters in photos and videos, so why not create your own with My Filters on your Galaxy phone? You can imitate the colors and styles of your favorite photos and apply them to new photos as you take them. Each filter you create will be saved in the Camera app for future use, so you can always use it again later.
Note: You cannot use My Filters when the camera is set to a 3:4 64MP aspect ratio. This feature is only available on S20, Z Flip, Note10, Note20, Fold, and S10 series phones.
Create or add a filter
Sometimes you just can’t find the right filter for the new selfie you took. If you’ve seen another photo with an effect that you admire, just use it to make your own filter. Up to 99 custom filters can be created and saved to your phone.
Open the Camera app, and then select Photo.
Tap the Filter icon (it looks like a magic wand) in the top right corner of the screen, and then tap My filters. The first time you use this feature, it may take you through a short tutorial about how to use it.
To create a new filter, tap the + icon in the left corner. The Gallery app will open; tap Pictures or Albums to find the photo with the filter you want. You can also select from Favorites or Recent.
After tapping the photo, it will appear as a thumbnail. Tap the filter’s name to rename it, and then tap Rename. Tap Save filter to add it.
Customize your photo with your new filter
Once you've created your new filter, you can apply it to a photo right then and there.
Get the shot you want, and then tap the new filter to see how it looks. If you’d like to see how your photo will look without the filter, tap Original to compare. Tap Capture to take your photo. You can view it by tapping Back, and then opening Gallery.
You can adjust the intensity of the filter with the slider or remove the filter by holding down and then tapping the Delete icon. To add additional filters, tap the + icon. Your filters can be organized by pressing and holding, and then dragging them into a different order.
Filter Provider and software updates
The Filter Provider system app allows the Camera app to create filters. If you’re having trouble using your new filters, it might be helpful to clear the system app data to ensure everything is running smoothly. You can also check for software updates on your device.
Navigate to and open Settings, and then tap Apps.
Tap the sort icon (it looks like a checkmark with three horizontal lines), and then tap the switch next to Show system apps. Tap OK.
Next, search for and select Filter Provider.
Tap Storage, and then tap Clear data. Tap OK to confirm. Please be aware that this may delete any filters you have created.
Tap Back three times, and then tap Software update. Tap Download and install to check for available updates.
Note: On some carriers, you will need to tap System updates, and then tap Check for system updates.
