How to use your Samsung gas range or cooktop

It's the traditional way to cook: gas ignition. Once you get used to adjusting the burners, cooking with a gas range or cooktop is fast, easy, and convenient. Just make sure you know how to use the burners and igniters to avoid potential accidents with the flames.

Burners and control knobs

When it comes to cooking with a gas stovetop, it’s all about the burners. They release and ignite gas so you can heat up your pots and pans.

  1. Locate the burner of your choice. The burner indicators are located above each knob and let you know which burner you’re controlling.

  2. Push in the control knob, and then turn it to the Lite position. You will hear a clicking sound which indicates the ignition system is working properly.

  3. After the surface burner lights, turn the control knob to adjust the flame level between LO and HI.

  4. When you are done cooking, turn the control knob to the OFF position.

Manually ignite the burners

If your home experiences a power outage, you can ignite the burners manually using the cooktop’s gas and a long gas grill lighter. Please use caution when doing this.

  1. Hold a long gas grill lighter next to the burner you want to light.

  2. Push in the control knob for that burner, and then turn it to the Lite position.

  3. Turn on the grill lighter to ignite the burner.

  4. After the burner is lit, turn the control knob to adjust the flame level between LO and HI.

  5. When you are done cooking, turn the control knob to the OFF position.
