Galaxy earbuds do not play notifications
If you're not receiving notifications from your paired phone or tablet on your earbuds, like the Galaxy Buds2 or Galaxy Buds2 Pro, make sure to enable notifications from that app. You can use the Galaxy Wearable app or Galaxy Buds+ app (on iOS) to manage the notification settings for your wearable device.

Galaxy earbuds do not play notifications
Note
Available features, menu options, and settings will vary by the device and software version. Notifications can only be received and managed when the earbuds are connected to the applicable app and device. Notifications will not be played on the Buds while you are on a phone call.
1
Navigate to and open the appropriate app.
First make sure your earbuds are connected to your phone, and then open the appropriate app.
- On Android devices with One UI 8, open Settings, and then tap on your Galaxy Buds. (They should appear under your name.)
- On Android devices with One UI 7 and older, navigate to and open the Galaxy Wearable app.
- If you are using iOS, navigate to and open the Samsung Galaxy Buds app.
2
Turn notifications on.
The next couple of steps will vary depending on what earbud model you have:
- Galaxy Buds2, Buds2 Pro, Buds Pro, Buds+, and Buds Live: Tap Earbud settings, tap Read notifications aloud, and then tap the switch at the top.
- Galaxy Buds: From the Galaxy Wearable app's Home screen, tap Read notifications aloud, and then tap the switch at the top of the screen.
- Gear IconX: Tap the SETTINGS tab to access Notifications. Tap Read notifications aloud, and then tap the switch.
3
Turn on Read aloud while using phone.
No matter what earbud model you are using, you should tap the switch next to Read aloud while using phone. This will let you hear notifications from your phone on your earbuds, even when you're using the phone.
Note
If music is being played from the earbuds when an alarm goes off, the track will pause, even if the notification is deactivated for alarms.
4
Manage notifications.
You can also customize which specific apps will read notifications aloud on your earbuds, based on your preferences.
To do this, tap See all underneath the list of apps. If you have the original Galaxy Buds, tap Manage notifications instead.
Then, tap the switch next to your desired app(s) to turn spoken notifications on or off.
5
Check other settings.
There are some other settings that could be preventing your device from receiving notifications.
- Make sure Do not disturb is disabled.
- Check if Wind down mode is turned on.
- Check if any of your apps have been put to sleep.
