It seems that foreign particles enter into the Galaxy Z Flip’s hinge

Last Update date : Oct 06. 2020

Q: It seems that foreign particles enter into the Galaxy Z Flip’s hinge, and it make folding and unfolding feel stiff. Is this a device defect?

A: The Galaxy Z Flip opens smoothly and naturally, and closes flat and compact. This was achieved by creating one of the most important pieces of hardware in the device that makes folding possible – a dual virtual-axis system hinge with multiple interlocking gears. The hinge design also allowed us to maximize the screen space and keep the bezels thin.

To prevent fine particles and foreign substances from entering the interior of the hinge module, Samsung implemented additional finishing.

Moreover, Samsung’s newly applied sweeper fibers (used in Dyson vacuum cleaners) inside

the hinge gaps of the Galaxy Z Flip prevent the inflow of dust and foreign objects.

If the hinge does not function properly, please visit your nearest Authorized Samsung Service Center to check whether your device has any problem.
