Like any other light bulb, you may need to change your Samsung microwave light once in a while. But don’t worry, it only takes a minute to replace the bulb with a new one, and soon you’ll be cooking fast, delicious meals again. Most Samsung microwaves have two different lights: the oven light located inside the microwave and the cooktop light located under the microwave. Since the steps are different depending on the light you are replacing, make sure you follow the instructions for the correct one.

Note: This guide was written for microwaves sold in Canada. Some features may vary depending on your model or the country where it was purchased. For detailed instructions, always refer to your user manual for your specific model.

The oven light inside your Samsung microwave allows you to see your food while it cooks. If the light is not working, it can be harder to monitor your food and prevent overcooking or burning. Replace the oven light as soon as it stops working.

Caution: Wear protective gloves when replacing the bulb to avoid injury, as the bulb may still be hot.

1 Check your user manual for the correct bulb wattage for your model. The required wattage may vary depending on the microwave. Common examples include 15 W, 25 W, or 40 W. Use only the type of bulb specified in your manual. Replacement bulbs can be purchased at most hardware stores.
2 Unplug the microwave or turn off power at the circuit breaker. Open the microwave door and remove the two middle screws securing the vent cover.
3 Slide the vent grill to the left and pull it straight out to remove it. If your microwave has a charcoal filter, remove it as well.

4 Remove the screw securing the bulb cover. Take off the cover and carefully remove the bulb.
5 Install the new bulb and secure the bulb cover with the screw. Reinstall the vent grill and reinsert the two screws.
6 Plug the microwave back in or restore power at the circuit breaker.
7 Reset the microwave clock.

If you have a Samsung over-the-range microwave, it includes a cooktop light, sometimes called a night light, that helps illuminate the stovetop below. If this light stops working, replace it so you can clearly see while cooking.

Caution: Wear protective gloves when replacing the bulb to avoid injury, as the bulb may still be hot.

1 Unplug the microwave or turn off the power at the circuit breaker.
2 Remove the screw securing the light cover and take off the cover.

3 Disconnect the wire connectors. Remove the screw securing the LED lamp board or bulb(s).
4 If your microwave uses bulbs, check your user manual for the correct wattage. Depending on the model, it may require a 40 W or 50 W halogen bulb. Replacement bulbs can be purchased at most hardware or appliance parts stores. If your model uses an LED lamp board, contact Samsung Support or visit an authorized Samsung service center to obtain the correct replacement part.
5 Install the new bulb or LED lamp board. Reconnect the wires and secure the screws.
6 Restore power to the microwave. Press the Light HI/LO/OFF button to test the cooktop light and cycle through the High and Low settings.
