How to reset your Samsung washer
If your Samsung washer isn’t behaving as expected, a simple reset might resolve the issue. This can clear minor software glitches, but it's not a cure-all. If problems continue, further troubleshooting may be needed. This guide shows you how to safely reset your washer and what to do if that reset doesn’t work.
Note: While the advice in this guide is universally applicable, it has been tailored specifically for our Canadian customers.
When your washer acts up, power cycling it is the quickest and safest way to reset it. This doesn’t just turn it off and on, it helps clear electrical glitches without erasing error logs. You can do this in one of two ways:
Good to know: Both methods achieve the same result. Use whichever is easier for your setup.
A reset can clear stored error codes, but it won’t fix the underlying issue. For example, a 4C or 4E code means the washer can’t fill with water. If the issue is with water supply or incorrect installation, resetting won't fix it.
Don't repeat resets: Each reset may erase error history, which can make it harder for a technician to diagnose the issue later. Only reset once unless your troubleshooting steps say otherwise.
If the same error returns after a reset, consider requesting professional service.
If your Samsung washer has Wi-Fi capability and you're having trouble with connectivity, a network reset will erase the appliance’s stored Wi-Fi and network settings so you can start fresh.
