Set your Samsung dishwasher to open the door automatically
Your Samsung dishwasher can open its door by itself once a cycle is finished. This helps release hot steam and let fresh air circulate inside the tub. When the hot air escapes and cooler air comes in, it speeds up the drying process and helps prevent moisture from settling on your dishes. It can also reduce spots and odors that sometimes happen when the door stays closed for too long, all without you having to do anything.
Note: While the advice in this guide is universally applicable, it has been tailored specifically for our Canadian customers.
Your dishwasher’s ability to open the door automatically is controlled by a setting called Auto door pen (also known as Auto release dry on some models). This setting lets you decide whether the door should open on its own at the end of each cycle.
The steps to turn it on or off depend on your dishwasher model, and not all models include this feature. If you’re not sure which model you have, check your user manual for details.
Tips:
- When the door opens automatically at the end of a cycle, you won’t be able to close it again for about 2 minutes.
- Turning this feature off can make dishes stay damp. For best results, keep Auto door opening turned on.
- On some models, the feature is turned on by default after each cycle.
