Keep your Samsung Galaxy running smoothly with Device care

Removing unnecessary files like images, videos, and audio recordings helps free up space on your Samsung Galaxy. That means more room for the content you care about. You can also use Device care to clear your phone or tablet’s memory and keep your apps running smoothly.

Note: The information provided applies to Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary by model and by country.

The steps below introduce you to the main features of Device care. They don’t cover every setting in detail, so feel free to explore and adjust the options to suit your needs.

Step 1. Open the Settings menu. Then, scroll through the menu and tap Device care.

Step 2. Tap Optimize now to scan your device for crashes, close background apps, and check for malware.

Step 3. Wait a few seconds for the process to complete, then tap Done.

Step 4. Tap Storage to review your stored files and free up space to improve performance.

Step 5. Tap a file category (such as Images, Videos, Audio files, Documents, etc.) to review the corresponding files. From there, you can quickly delete any items you no longer need.

Step 6. You can also tap Trash to permanently delete previously removed files, or tap Unused apps to review apps you haven’t used in the past 30 days.

Step 7. Tap the Back icon in the top-left corner or use your device's back gesture or button to go back to the Device care screen.

Step 8. Tap Memory to review background apps and free up RAM to help your device run more smoothly.

Step 9. Tap Clean now to stop background apps and free up memory, helping your device run more smoothly.

Step 10. If you want to keep certain apps running in the background, tap Excluded apps and add them to the list.

Step 11. Tap the Back icon in the top-left corner or use your device's back gesture or button to go back to the Device care screen.

Step 12. You can also explore other options in Device care, such as App protection or Performance profile, to further improve performance and security.
