Turn on Reactivation lock on your Samsung smartwatch

If something happens to your smartwatch, worry less about someone getting their hands on your personal information. The Reactivation lock feature uses your Samsung account information to make sure no one can unlock it. Now you can have peace of mind if it is ever lost or stolen.

Note: Information provided applies to devices sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary for smartwatches sold in other countries. The Reactivation lock feature is not available on all models, in particular the newer Samsung smartwatches (like the Galaxy Watch4 series - for example).

Please read the following information before setting up and using the Reactivation Lock:

  • When Reactivation lock is activated and the watch is reset, you will be prompted to sign in to the Samsung account that was used to lock the watch. This prevents strangers from accessing your personal data.
  • The Samsung account will also be required if the Galaxy Wearable app has been reinstalled, or the app data has been deleted.
  • If the watch was purchased with the Reactivation lock turned on from a used marketplace or store, the previous Samsung account must be entered. Contact the place of purchase.
  • If the Reactivation lock cannot be removed or if you have lost your Samsung account information, the watch will need service. A proof of purchase is required. Please visit the Support Centre to request service.
  • Remember to turn off Reactivation lock before requesting repairs, reselling, or returning the watch. Otherwise, the recipient will not be able to remove the Reactivation lock.
  • The Reactivation lock is active until it is deactivated with the Samsung account.

Note: The Reactivation lock feature may not be on by default.

On your phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app. Then swipe to and tap Find My Watch or Find My Gear. Tap Set security, and then tap Reactivation lock. Tap the switch to turn it on.

Enter the password for your Samsung account, and then tap OK.

Note: To turn it off, simply tap the switch again, and enter your Samsung account password.
