How do I back up data to my Google account from my Samsung Galaxy device?

PLEASE NOTE: that the options may differ depending on your device and operating system.

You can back up data using your Google account on your Samsung Galaxy device.

 

The type of data backed up will depend on your model and operating system. As part of the back up process (see the steps below), you will be asked to confirm which data you would like to back up.

The method of backing up to your Google account will differ slightly depending on which device you are using and your operating system, but the main steps will remain the same.

To back up your data, you will need to:

1 From the home screen, choose Apps or swipe up to access your apps

3 Tap Cloud and accounts or Accounts and backup. If you do not see this screen, go to step 4

5 Choose the account you want to back up. Some devices may need to tap Google before an account can be selected.

PLEASE NOTE: that for this example we have chosen to back up an email account.

6 Tap Sync account If you do not see this screen, skip to step 9

To back up your data, you will need to:

1 From the home screen, choose Apps or swipe up to access your apps

3 Scroll down to the Personalisation section in Settings and tap Accounts
Select Accounts
4 Tap Google
Select Google
5 Tap on your email address
Select Email address
6 You can now see the list of types of data you can back up to your Google account. Tick the boxes alongside for the data you want to back up.
You can select which type of data you want to sync to your e-mail account
7 Tap Menu or More (this may be displayed as three dots or lines)
Select three dot overflow menu
8 Tap Sync now

To back up your data, you will need to:

1 From the home screen, choose Apps
Tap Apps
2 Tap Settings

3 Scroll down to the Accounts section and tap Google
Select Google
4 Tap your email address
Select Email address
5 You can either tap individual areas to sync (e.g. to sync only App data, tap the top section titled Sync App data), you can sync all options by tapping Sync Now
Tap Sync now
