Update summary   

Effective April 21, 2015, AT&T will release the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) software update for the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active (SGH-I537). The update is available to customers to download via Firmware Over The Air (FOTA). Wi-Fi® is required for the update, and depending on the customer's current Android version, the file size is 974MB–1.0GB.

What to expect after the update

Although there should be no impacts to settings or data, we recommend that you back up your media files to an SD™ card, a PC, or a favorite application (from Google Play™ Store), prior to upgrading the software. You can also back up and restore your phone using Samsung Kies.

How to Update Your Samsung Galaxy S4 Active

  1. Upon receipt of the Software Update notification, which reads: A new software update from AT&T is available for your device. This software update will take several minutes and will not delete any personal data on your device. All service (including emergency calls) will be suspended during the installation. To initiate the update manually, go to Settings > MORE tab >About device > Software update > Check for updates.
  2. Touch Continue or Remind Me Later.
  3. The device will automatically restart with a status message of "Installing."
  4. The device will automatically restart once the new software has successfully installed.
  5. The device will automatically start downloading the software update. Once complete, the device will restart.
  6. Status Message: Update Complete: The software has been successfully installed. Your device is now ready to use.
  7. To verify the updated software version, go to Settings > About device. The following information will be displayed:
    • Android version: 5.0.1
    • Baseband Version: I537UCUCOC6 
    • Kernel Version: 3.4.0-4554112
    • Build#: LRX22C.I537UCUCOC6

1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.

2. Touch Settings.

3. Scroll to and touch About device.

4. The Baseband version and Build number show the software version on your mobile device.
