How do I change the application notifications on my Samsung Galaxy J1™?

You can control which applications push notifications to your device using the Application notifications settings.

Set Application Notifications as Priority

Setting application notifications as priority means notifications will display at the top of the Notification Panel, even when your device is in Do not disturb mode.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Settings Settings Icon.
  3. Touch Sound and notification .
  4. Scroll to and touch Application notifications.
  5. Touch the name of an application you want to set as priority.
  6. Touch the slider  to turn Set as priority on .
  7. Applications with notifications set as priority are identified by the word Priority under the application name.

Block Application Notifications

Blocking notifications for an application means notifications will not display on your lock screen, status bar, or Notification Panel. For example, if you block Gmail™ notifications, your device will not display a notification and will not play a sound or vibrate when you receive email to that account.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Settings Settings Icon.
  3. Touch Sound and notification .
  4. Scroll to and touch Application notifications.
  5. Touch the name of an application for which you want to block notifications.
  6. Touch the slider  to turn Block notifications on . Blocking notifications will turn them off even if the application is set as priority.
  7. Applications with notifications blocked are identified by the word Blocked under the application name.

Hide Content on Lock Screen

The Hide content on lock screen option is only available for individual applications when you choose a Pattern, PIN, or Password screen lock.

If a secure lock is set on your device, you can hide content from selected applications' lock screen notifications.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Settings Settings Icon.
  3. Touch Sound and notification .
  4. Scroll to and touch Application notifications.
  5. Touch the name of an application for which you want to hide notification content on the lock screen.
  6. Touch the slider  to turn Hide content on lock screen on .
  7. Applications with sensitive notification content hidden are identified by the word Sensitive under the application name.
