Where are my photos and videos stored on my Samsung Galaxy S® 4, and can I move them?

By default, your captured pictures and videos are stored on your device's internal memory. If you have installed a microSD™ card, your device will ask if you would like to change the storage location to the microSD card the next time you open the Camera application.

Screens and settings available may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Change the Default Save Location

Burst shot pictures and pictures taken using certain camera modes will be saved to the device regardless of the storage setting.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Camera Camera Icon.
  3. Touch Camera Settings Icon to access the Camera settings.
  4. Touch Camera Settings Icon for the settings menu.
  5. Touch the Camera Settings Icon tab for the general settings.
  6. Scroll to and touch Storage.
  7. Select either Device  or Memory card .

Move Files

You can save room on your device by moving pictures, videos, and other files to your microSD card or to the My Files application.

Move Pictures in the Gallery

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch Gallery Gallery Icon.
  3. If necessary, touch the drop-down menu and select Albums.
  4. Open the album containing the pictures you want to move.
  5. Touch Menu Menu Key > Select item and mark the checkboxes for the pictures you want to move.
  6. Touch Menu Menu Key > Move and choose a folder on your device  or microSD card . Touch NEW ALBUM to move the selected files to a new folder or album.

Move Pictures in My Files

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps Apps Icon.
  2. Touch My Files .
  3. Touch All files > Device storage.
  4. Open the folder containing the pictures you want to move. The following table directs you to the folder where your media is stored:
    Media saved from Storage location
    Browser Download
    Camera DCIM > Camera
    Video DCIM > Camera
    Screen capture Pictures > Screenshots
  5. Mark the checkboxes for the pictures you want to move.
  6. Touch More options  > Move or Copy.
  7. Touch SD™ card.
  8. Select a folder, or touch CREATE FOLDER to make a new folder for the files.
  9. Touch MOVE HERE or PASTE HERE.
