How do I use Samsung S Voice™ on my Samsung Galaxy S4?
With the S Voice application, you can use your voice to perform operations you would normally have to do by hand, such as dialing a phone number, sending a text message, and playing music. In addition to completing requests, you can ask your device questions like "What is the weather?" S Voice will find the information you requested and display it on the screen.
Preparing S Voice for First Use
From the Home screen, touch Apps > S Voice. Or quickly double-press the Home key.
Read the Samsung Disclaimer, and then touch Confirm to continue.
Read the Terms of Service, and then touch Agree to continue.
Touch Next on the About S Voice screen to be guided through how to use the app. Touch Skip to begin using the app.
Touch Next on the Say what you want screen.
Review the information on the Wake up S Voice screen, and touch Next to continue.
Review the information on the Edit what you said screen, and touch Next to continue.
Read the information on the Help screen. Each option in the list will show examples of how to use S Voice to complete an action. Touch Finish when you are done reviewing the available features.
At the S Voice screen, speak to your device.
Using S Voice
You can quickly open the S Voice feature by pressing the Home key twice.
You may have to turn on the option to open S Voice using the Home key. Touch Menu > Settings > Open via the home key.
You can do more than ask your device to complete requests. You can ask your device questions like "What is the weather?" to get weather information. S Voice will find the information you requested and display it on the screen.
S Voice lets you quickly navigate home by saying a command such as "Drive home." To define your home address, touch Menu > Settings > Home address. Enter your home address, and touch OK to save.
You can turn on Hands-free mode using the Quick Panel shortcut. Open the Quick Panel by swiping down from the top of the screen to the bottom using two fingers. Touch the Hands-free mode shortcut to turn the feature on or off. When the feature is on, the icon will be green. You can use S Voice to navigate to a location, such as your stored home address, by saying, "Navigate home."
Hands-free Mode Settings
From the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > My device > Hands-free mode. Touch the slider to turn Hands-free mode on. By marking the desired feature's checkbox, you can set the following features to be active on your device when Hands-free mode is turned on.
Incoming call: Read out the caller's information when receiving an incoming call.
ChatON™: Read out the caller's information when receiving an incoming call.
Air call-accept: Wave your hand over the screen to accept the incoming call.
Message: Read out the message sender's information when receiving a new incoming message.
Alarm: Read out alarm information when an alarm sounds.
Schedule: Read out calendar event information when a calendar notification sounds.
S Voice Settings
Touch Menu > Settings for the following options:
Language: Change the language.
Open via the home key: When this option is checked, double-press the Home key to open S Voice.
Use location data: When this option is checked, use location data provided by the device to improve S Voice results.
Hide offensive words: When this option is checked, the device will hide potential offensive words with asterisks.
Help: View topics on how to use S Voice.
About: View the version information about the software.
Auto start speakerphone: When this option is checked, the speakerphone will be turned on when placing a call.
Show body of message: When this option is checked, display the content of the new message.
Wake up command: When this option is checked, say your wake-up command anytime to open S Voice. Turning on this option will increase battery consumption. Default is "Hi, Galaxy."
Check missed events: When the option is checked, your device will check for missed events whenever you connect your headset.
Home address: Define your home address. The address you set will be used for the voice commands "Drive home" and "Navigate home."
Log in to Facebook®: Log in to your Facebook account to post messages using voice commands.
Log in to Twitter®: Log in to your Twitter account to tweet messages using voice commands.
Additional S Voice Settings (Voice Control)
From the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > My device > Voice control. Touch the slider to turn Voice control on. By marking the desired command's checkbox, you can set the following features to be active on your device when Hands-free mode is turned on.
Incoming calls: Answer or reject calls with the voice commands "Answer" and "Reject." When you answer a call using a voice command, audio will be routed to the device's external speaker (speakerphone).
ChatON: Answer or reject with the voice commands "Answer" and "Reject." When you answer a call using a voice command, audio will be routed to the device's external speaker (speakerphone).
Alarm: Stop or snooze alarms with the voice commands "Stop" and "Snooze."
The Snooze feature will only work if you have turned on the Snooze option in the alarm's settings.
Camera: Take photos with voice commands like "Capture," "Shoot," "Smile," and "Cheese."
Music: Control the music player with the voice commands "Next," "Previous," "Play," "Pause," "Volume Up," and "Volume Down."
