Control Multiple Devices with OneRemote
Using multiple remotes for all your different entertainment devices can get confusing. Does this control the Blu-ray player or the surround sound? Instead of shuffling around, use the special remote that came with your TV. It's called the OneRemote (fitting name, right?) and it's a smart remote that can control external devices connected to your TV.
This function is not available on certain models or in specific geographical areas.
Point the remote control at the device you are controlling, and make sure there are no obstacles between the remote control and the device.
Set Up OneRemote and Connect Devices
When you're ready, toss away all those extra remotes and start controlling everything with the OneRemote.
First, connect an external device (such as a Blu-ray player) to the HDMI port of the TV, and then power on the external device. Press the Home button on your OneRemote to access the Home Screen. Using the directional pad on the remote, navigate to Source.
When the selector is placed over Source, the Source menu will appear. Press UP on the directional pad to access Universal Remote.
Select Universal Remote on the Source screen. (Universal Remote is the name of the controlling feature, but the physical remote is called the OneRemote.) Next, select Start and make sure the device you want to connect is turned on. When your desired device displays, select it.
Here are the types of external devices you can connect:
Cable or Satellite Box
Home Theater System
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup and register the device. The instructions may vary, depending on the device type selected.
Your TV and the OneRemote will memorize the external device and its connection port (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, and etc.) to make controlling everything even easier.
If the external device does not respond after registering, register it again using the model number. Remember, not all external devices are compatible with the One Connect Box.
