Get to Know the Camera on Galaxy S8 Active

Your phone features both front and rear-facing cameras, which let you capture photos and videos in a variety of modes. Edit photos and videos directly on your phone, and share them on social media.

The available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

Camera Settings

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To configure settings for the Camera, touch Settings.

  3. Adjust the following to the desired settings.

    Available options vary depending on the camera or recording mode used.

    • REAR CAMERA: Adjust the picture size or video size of the rear camera, enable or disable Tracking AF and Shape correction, and choose a Timer.

    • FRONT CAMERA: Adjust the picture size or video size of the front camera, enable or disable Save pictures as previewed, choose Shooting methods, and choose a Timer.

    • COMMON: Use the options available to enhance your capturing experience.

    • Reset settings: Touch Reset settings to reset the camera settings to default.

Resolutions

Rear Camera

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To configure settings for the Camera, touch Settings.

  3. To change the resolution of the Rear camera, touch Picture size under REAR CAMERA for photo resolution, and Video size for video resolution.

  4. Choose the desired Picture size or Video size.

   

Front Camera

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To configure settings for the Camera, touch Settings.

  3. To change the resolution of Front camera, touch Picture size under FRONT CAMERA for photo resolution, and Video size for video resolution.

  4. Choose the desired Picture size or Video size.

Panorama

Create a linear image by taking pictures in either a horizontal or vertical direction.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To access Camera modes, swipe to the right.

  3. Touch Panorama.

    Panorama mode is only available for the Rear camera.

  4. To start taking a panorama picture, touch the Capture icon.

  5. Move the phone slowly in one direction until the capture is complete.

    You can stop taking the panorama picture by touching Stop.

Hyperlapse

Create your own time lapse video by recording at various frame rates. The frame rate is automatically adjusted depending on the scene being recorded and the movement of the phone.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Camera.

  2. To access Camera modes, swipe to the right.

  3. Touch Hyperlapse.

    Hyperlapse mode is only available for the Rear camera.

  4. To start recording a hyperlapse video, touch the Record icon.

  5. To stop recording, touch the Stop icon.
