Edge Panel Lighting & Setup

You are about to get a perfect combo in your favorite game, but a push down notification blocks the screen and cuts you off! Get fewer interruptions with Edge lighting. This feature will make the edges of your Galaxy S9 and S9+ light up whenever you get a text or notification. 

• Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.

• Edge lighting may not work with third party apps.

Edge Lighting Settings

Try Edge lighting when you’re in the zone and want minimal distractions. Just follow the instructions below:

Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Edge lighting. Touch the slider to enable it. To turn off Edge lighting, touch the slider again.

Maybe you only want light notifications at certain times. Here's how to adjust when Edge lighting will show:

  • When screen is on: Show Edge lighting when screen is on.

  • When screen is off: Show Edge lighting when screen is off.

  • Always: Always show Edge lighting.

Note: Edge lighting is on by default.

Edge Lighting Styles

You can customize Edge lighting to improve your gaming experience, or simply make your notifications match your personal style.

Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Edge lighting. Touch Edge lighting style and then customize the following options:

  • Effect: Select from Basic, Multicolor, Glow, and Glitter effects.

  • Color: Select the desired color. You can also set a color for each app by touching App color.

    Note: If you select Glitter as your effect, the Color option will not available.

  • Transparency: Select the desired transparency from Low to High.

  • Width: Select the desired width from Narrow to Wide.

When you're done customizing, touch APPLY to apply your changes.

Edge Lighting Notifications

Maybe you only want a cool light notifcation for the apps you care about the most. With Edge lighting, you can select which apps will get them.

Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Edge lighting. Touch Manage notifications. If you want to enable Edge lighting for all available apps, touch the slider next to All available apps. Or, you can enable Edge lighting for individual apps by touching the slider next to the desired app(s).
