About Bixby

What devices does Bixby support?

    Currently, Bixby is compatible with the Galaxy S8/S8+, Galaxy S9/S9+, Galaxy Note8, and Galaxy Note9, but we plan to support more models in the future.

Can I customize Bixby's name?

    Bixby's name is not able to be changed.

Does Bixby support Incognito mode?

    In order to use Bixby Voice, users must log into their Samsung account on their phone. Therefore, Bixby does not support Incognito mode because your information may still be visible through your Samsung account.

Do I need Wi-Fi or mobile data to use Bixby?

    Yes, you must be connected to a mobile data or Wi-Fi network to use Bixby.

Bixby Voice may be limited or unavailable under these conditions:

  • During media (video/game/voice) recording

  • During a call (including outgoing calls)

  • While docked on a DeX device

  • While Maximum power saving mode is activated

  • While Emergency mode is activated

  • While Kids mode is activated

  • While using Mirror link

What is Open Trivia?

    The Bixby Voice Open Trivia feature allow users to ask general questions about something (i.e. a person, place, or thing). Bixby Voice will provide news articles, videos, webpages, etc. to answer users' questions.

Can I change Bixby's language?

    Yes, you can change the language through these steps. Press the Bixby key to open Bixby Assistant Home. Touch More Options and then touch Settings. Touch Language and voice style, and then choose your desired language.

Can I change the speaking style of Bixby Voice?

    You can also change Bixby’s speaking style by following these steps. Press the Bixby key to open Bixby Assistant Home. Touch More Options and then touch Settings. Touch Language and voice style, and then choose your desired voice style.

Which functionalities are supported by Bixby Voice?

    In addition to Bixby’s other features, you can also ask Bixby Voice questions, like "What is the weather like outside?" or "What movies are playing nearby?"

How do I know when Bixby is listening?

    Bixby will appear on your phone’s screen and glow blue when it’s listening.

Bixby Vision recognizes the image, but mode buttons are not available.

  • In the preview in Camera, make sure that your phone is stable and isn't shaking. Also, pictures are recognized better in bright environments, so try to make the surrounding environment as bright as possible.

  • When taking a picture, make sure that the entire subject is placed at the center of the screen and takes up more than 25 percent of the screen. Avoid filling the whole screen with the subject, and leave at least a 20 percent margin at the edges of your image.

  • When taking a picture, make sure that it's not upside down or rotated. Avoid taking a picture of a wide object while holding your phone in portrait orientation.

  • To distinguish products easily, make sure the picture shows the most identifiable side of a product (i.e., its front is directly facing the camera) when you take the picture.

Bixby Reminder

What kind of data can I store in Reminders?

    You can create a reminder about specific tasks, or you can add them to calls, text messages, photos, or videos. Learn more about how to manage your Bixby Reminders.

Can I set a reminder every time my Bixby Home Card is updated?

    Bixby Home suggests contextually relevant cards based on your usage pattern, but it does not send you separate alerts or notifications.

Reset Bixby

If Bixby is not responding to your voice or if you want to reset Bixby for any reason, just follow the steps below. Soon, you’ll get the problem solved and start communicating again.

Navigate to Settings, and then touch Apps. Swipe to and touch Bixby Voice. Touch Storage, and then touch CLEAR DATA. Touch DELETE to confirm, but be aware that all your previous Bixby data will be reset. Next, touch CLEAR CACHE and Bixby will be refreshed. If needed, go through the initial setup process to get Bixby working again.
