Samsung Galaxy smart watch and phone compatibility

Since it’s a Samsung product, a Galaxy phone will have the most compatibility options. Just be sure to download the Galaxy Wearable app from the Play Store, and make sure your phone has the latest software.

• Galaxy Watch Ultra: Phones with Android 11 or later.
• Galaxy Watch7: Phones with Android 11 or later.
• Galaxy Fit3: Phones with Android 10 or above.
• Galaxy WatchFE: Phones with Android 10 or above.
• Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic: Phones with Android 10.0 and RAM 2.0 GB or higher are supported.
• Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro: Phones with Android 8.0 and RAM 1.5 GB or higher are supported. 
• Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic: Phones with Android 6.0 and RAM 1.5 GB or higher are supported.
• Galaxy Watch (2018 model), Watch Active, Watch Active2, and Watch3: Phones with Android 5.0 and RAM 1.5 GB or higher are supported.
• Gear Sport, Gear S2 Classic, Gear S3 Frontier, Gear S3 Classic, Gear Fit2, Gear Fit2 Pro:  Phones with Android 4.3 - Android 13 and RAM 1.5 GB or higher are supported.
  
  Note: These models are not compatible with Samsung Galaxy phones released with Android 14. This includes the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy A25, and Galaxy A15. 

Non-Samsung phones running Android can also connect to Galaxy Watch and Gear. For the best results, make sure your device has the latest software, and be sure to get the Galaxy Wearable app from the Play Store.

Note: When connected with Non-Samsung mobile devices, some features created by each manufacturer may have limited support and some features, like Samsung Pay, are only available on Samsung smartphones. 

Supported devices vary depending on your region, operator and device brand.

• Galaxy Watch Ultra: Phones with Android 11 and higher.

• Gear Live, Gear S2, Gear Fit2, Gear Fit2 Pro, Gear S3, and Gear Sport: Phones with Android 4.4 and RAM 1.5 GB or higher are supported.
  

• Gear, Gear 2, Gear S, and Gear Fit: These watches are not supported on non-Samsung Android devices.

If you have an iPhone, there are some Samsung smart watches that are compatible with certain versions of iOS. Newer Samsung watches with Wear OS are not compatible with iOS. If you have a compatible watch, you will need to download Galaxy Wearable for your device from the App Store.

Compatible devices

• Galaxy Watch (2018 model), Galaxy Watch Active, and Galaxy Watch Active2: iPhones (iPhone5 or later) that have iOS 9 and above are compatible.

• Gear Live, Gear S2, Gear Fit 2, Gear S3, Gear Sport, and Gear Fit2 Pro: iPhones (iPhone5 or later) that have iOS 9 and above are compatible.

• Galaxy Fit: iPhone 7 or later running iOS 10 and above are compatible.

Incompatible devices

• Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, Watch6, Watch7, Watch Ultra, and Watch FE: These watches rely on Google Play services which is not supported on iOS.
• Galaxy Fit3: This watch is not compatible with iOS.

• Gear 1, Gear 2, Gear S, and Gear Fit: These watches are not supported on iOS.

Note: iPad and iPod touch are not supported. For iPhone 6S and 6S+ running iOS 10 and later, the connection may be unstable.

• Messages: Notifications, replies, and sync are compatible on Samsung and other Android phones. Suggested Replies are only compatible with Samsung phones running One UI 6.1.1 or higher.
• Calls: Incoming call notifications, incoming accept or reject, and outgoing calls are compatible on Samsung and other Android phones.
• Call logs: Call log sync, call logs list, call logs details are compatible on both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Call dialer: Compatible on both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Contacts: Contacts sync and Contacts list are compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones. 
• Bixby: Bixby voice commands for Alarm, Timer, Calendar, and Messages are compatible on both Samsung and other Android phones, but are subject to individual app limitations.
• Samsung Health: Pedometer, Water, Food, Activity tracker, Exercise, Heart rate, Together, Body composition, Program, Sleep, Stress Tracking, Blood Oxygen (SpO2), Advanced running metrics, VO2 max, Cycle tracking, Personalized HR Zone, and Energy Score are compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Samsung Health Monitor: ECG, Irregular heart rhythm notifications (IHRN), and sleep apnea features are only available with Samsung phones.
• Weather: Current weather and More information is compatible both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Play store: Watch face and watch application are compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Calendar: Schedule notifications and Snooze/Dismiss are only available with Samsung devices. Sync is available when using Google Calendar on Samsung or other Android phones. 
• Reminders: The Reminder app is only compatible with Samsung phones. 
• Outlook/Email: Email sync and reply is compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones, however you can only reply via an email notification.
• Samsung Music: Music play is compatible on both Samsung and other Android phones. Music transfer is only compatible with Samsung phones.
• Media controller: Play/pause, next/previous, title/artist, and album art display are compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones, but are dependent on the Android phone's specific media-app and its supporting MediaSession features.
• Gallery: Image view and image transfer are compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Find my device: Samsung Find is compatible only with Samsung phones. Find my phone is compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Alarm: Alarm create, edit, set, snooze, and dismiss are compatible with Samsung phones. When using a different Android phone, the Alarm functions will not sync with the phone, but can be used on the watch itself.
• World clock: Compatible with Samsung phones
• Timer: Alerts will sync with Samsung phones, but can only be used directly on watches when connected to other Android phones.
• Stopwatch: Compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• PPT Controller: Compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Voice recorder: Compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Safety: Send SOS Request and Fall Detection are compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Setting: Mode sync is only compatible with Samsung phones.
• Customization Service: Dual watch face (suggestion) is only compatible with Samsung phones.
• Samsung Wallet payments: Compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Camera Controller: Compatible with Samsung phones only.
• Buds Controller: Compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Compass: Compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• SmartThings: Compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
• Gestures: Double pinch, shake to dismiss, and knock knock gestures are compatible on Samsung phones and may work on the watch itself when connected to other Android phones, but may not sync to the phone.
• Samsung Internet: Compatible with both Samsung and other Android phones.
