Requires initial and periodic calibrations every 28 days using a third-party upper-arm blood pressure cuff, sold separately. Read and follow instructions to calibrate the blood pressure function. 1
Set up the Samsung Health Monitor app on your watch and phone.
For steps on setting up the Samsung Health Monitor app, check out our guide. Once you've completed the setup, you can begin the calibration steps below.
2
Prepare for calibration.
To ensure a more accurate calibration, follow these preparations before you first measure.
- Do not smoke, bathe, exercise, or consume alcohol or caffeine for at least thirty minutes prior to taking a measurement.
- Make sure your arm and wrist are dry and free of perspiration or lotion.
- Do the measurement indoors in a quiet area.
- Put a comfortable chair next to a table, and sit in the chair with your back well supported, legs uncrossed, and feet flat on the ground.
- Let your hands and forearms rest on the table.
- Rest in this position for at least five minutes before you begin measuring.
- Wear your Galaxy watch on the same wrist for each measurement, and make sure it fits snugly, but not too tight.
3
Calibrate your watch using an upper arm blood pressure cuff.
On your phone, open the Samsung Health Monitor app, tap Blood pressure at the bottom, and then tap Calibrate the watch. Read the information and prompts on the screen, and follow the steps to complete calibration. You will need an upper-arm cuff-based blood pressure monitor, and you must take three measurements with it within a thirty-minute timeframe. You'll enter that information into the app to calibrate your watch.
Caution
When you begin the calibration, stay still and do not move your arm or talk while the cuff-based blood pressure monitor performs the measurement. During the measurements, breathe normally and do not try to deepen or slow your breaths.
4
Take a measurement on your watch.
Once your compatible Galaxy smartwatch is calibrated, you can use your watch to measure your blood pressure. To take a measurement, open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your watch, and tap Blood pressure. Tap Measure, read the prompt, and then tap OK. Once finished, you can review the results on your device, and then tap Done. You can also review the results in the Samsung Health Monitor app on your phone.
