Bluetooth headphones will not connect to Samsung smart watch

If you cannot connect the watch to your Bluetooth headphones, make sure that Bluetooth is on, and check to make sure the software is up to date.

For the Galaxy Fit, make sure the watch is powered on since Bluetooth cannot be disabled.

Navigate to Settings.

There are a few different ways to navigate to the Settings menu, depending on what watch model you have:

  • Wear OS Models: From the watch's Home screen, swipe up to access the Apps screen. Swipe to and open Settings.
  • Tizen models: Press the Home key (Power key), and then navigate to and tap Settings.
  • All models: Swipe down from the top of the watch's screen to open the Quick settings panel. Tap the Settings icon to open up Settings.

Turn on Bluetooth.

Swipe to and tap Connections, tap Bluetooth, and then tap the Bluetooth switch to turn it on.

  • When connecting to another Bluetooth device, ensure that your watch and the other device are within the Bluetooth connection range (about 30 feet).
  • The distance may vary depending on the environment and if there are obstacles, such as walls or electrical equipment, between the devices.

Unpair the Bluetooth headphones from your Samsung smart watch

Navigate to Settings.
From the smart watch's Home screen, press the Home key (Power key), and then tap Settings. Alternatively, you can swipe down the Status panel, and then tap the Settings icon.

Navigate to the Bluetooth audio Settings.
Swipe to and tap Connection, tap Bluetooth, and then tap Bluetooth audio or BT headset. Next, tap the Settings icon next to the connected headset.

Unpair the original headphones.
Tap Unpair to disconnect the headphones from your watch.

Try pairing a second pair of headphones.

Pairing a second pair of headphones will help you determine if the problem is with the headphones themselves.

After you've unpaired the original headphones, put the second set into pairing mode, then tap Scan in the watch's Bluetooth menu, and then tap the second headset you want to pair.

  • If the second pair of headphones is working properly but the original headphones still won't connect, contact the original headphones' manufacturer for further support.

  • If you're experiencing issues with a pair of Samsung headphones, restart the headphones.

Bluetooth headphones are available on our website if you need a new pair.

Reset your Samsung smart watch

Note
Before you perform a reset, make sure you back up the data on your watch using the Galaxy Wearable app. Samsung is not responsible for any lost data.

Unpair the watch from your phone.
Navigate to and open Settings on your phone, then tap Connections, and then tap Bluetooth. From the "Paired devices" list, tap the Settings icon next to your watch's name, and then tap Unpair.

From the watch's Home screen, navigate to and open Settings. Alternatively, you can swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel, and then tap the Settings icon.

Settings cannot be accessed on the Galaxy Fit. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone instead.

Reset your watch.

Swipe to and tap General, then tap Reset, and then tap Reset again to confirm.

  • For the Gear Fit2 Pro, tap Gear info, and then tap Reset Gear.
  • For a Galaxy Fit, swipe to and tap About band. Tap Reset band, and then tap Reset to confirm.

Reconnect your watch.

Once you reset your watch, you will need to reconnect it to the Galaxy Wearable app. After the connection is complete, you can check for software updates.

If you have an LTE watch that was activated with a QR code, a new one will be required to reactivate service for the watch. Please contact your carrier to obtain a new QR code.

Request service.
If resetting your watch doesn't fix the issues, service is required. Visit the Support Center to request service.

Update the software for your Samsung smart watch

Note

The available menu options and settings will vary by the smart watch and software version.

A network connection is required to update your watch software. Your watch must be connected to a phone via Bluetooth.

Navigate to the Update software menu in the Galaxy Wearable app.
From your phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app. Depending on your watch, you may need to tap the SETTINGS tab. Then, tap About watch or About band. For a Gear Fit2 Pro or Gear Fit2, tap About Gear. Next, tap Update watch software or Update band software. For a Gear Fit2 Pro or Gear Fit2, tap Update Gear software.

Check for available software update to your watch.
Note
The software update may take several minutes to complete. The watch will disconnect during this time, and the screen may display an exclamation mark or the progress percentage.

In the software update menu, tap Update now or Download updates manually. If desired, you can choose to automatically update the software by turning on Auto update or Download updates automatically.

If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install the newest software version for your watch.
