Samsung Parental Controls

Why Samsung Parental Controls

If you have kids or teens who are regularly using the internet, or have their own mobile devices, it’s important to take the right steps to keep them safe online. Even if you supervise your kids when they use their smartphone or tablet, there is always a chance that inappropriate apps or content might reach them. Parental device controls are a great tool to help you prevent your child from accessing harmful online spaces or content.

How to Use Parental Lock on Samsung Devices

Samsung Parental Controls can help you stay on top of your family’s online activity with app and media locks, as well as through Kids Modes for younger users. These tools also allow you to block specific websites or apps, monitor how your child uses their device, and set screen time limits to help them build good digital habits.

Using Samsung Parental Control Features

Samsung Tablets Parental Controls

It’s important to teach your kids online safety awareness as soon as they start using smart devices - and for many kids, a tablet is their first device.

Choosing a Samsung Tab for your child means you can also monitor their online activity using Samsung Parental Controls. This is especially important for younger children, who need extra supervision when using devices. Samsung Kids Mode is also available for Galaxy Tabs, giving you access to more features like bedtime scheduling.

Samsung TVs Parental Controls

Samsung Smart TVs include more ways to prevent your kids from viewing inappropriate content.

Smart TVs from Samsung sold after 2016 have Parental Controls that allow you to set a PIN to access different content. You can set a PIN for certain streaming apps, like Netflix and YouTube, specific TV channels, and even for adult classification ratings like M, MA 15+, and R 18+.[1]

Even with these controls on, your child may still access content that you don't want them to see. Parental approval is not required when your child re-downloads an app or other content that was previously approved or installs an update to an existing app.

Some Family Link features have limited availability, and require specific settings and circumstances in order to work. For example, blocking apps is only available when your child is signed in to a compatible Android or Chrome OS device, and seeing your child's device location in the Family Link app is only available when their Android device is powered on and connected to the Internet. When your child turns 13 (age may vary by country (g.co/AgeRequirements)), they can choose to manage their account on their own without your supervision.
