Received and opened my package 20 minutes ago to find the Samsung water filter box inside was already opened on one end and poorly taped on the other end. One of the filters inside was plastic wrapped, the other wasn’t wrapped at all. For the money I spent, I foolishly expected something new. Now I’m looking at one opened filter I can’t trust and one wrapped in plastic that makes me question its contents. I received what looks like a re-packaged returned item.

This product is essentially a lie. The packaging provides no information on what exactly is being filtered by the over priced bloated manufacturer. On this day of 8 September 2023, I’ve had a water test performed by professionals from the water filtration industry. The quality scale is 0 to 10, 10 being the worst. The water from my tap returns a 10 horrid. The water from my brand new Samsung refrigerator using the same tap water WITH this filter ranks a 9. I think Samsung and the manufacturer of this filter need to explain what this filter is doing and why it must exist. The price does not reflect the expected quality. For what it does do, SAMSUNG needs to refund the customers money.

The filter is great. The devil's packaging is atrocious. I needed a hacksaw and giant amount of internal rage to get the filter out of the package. And I'm lucky it didn't cut me to shreds in the process. Do better. O/5 for the packaging.

I have a model RFG298HDRS Samsung refrigerator built in 2012. The fridge has been great and still works except for one small issue: new HAF-CIN water filters do not work. In fact, Samsung doesn't even list this model on the filter finder page, almost as if they didn't expect their product to last more than 10 years. I've been purchasing genuine Samsung water filters for the life of the fridge, and the last ones I bought won't work at all. The water can barely make it through the filter due to a design change. When I remove the filter, the dispenser works fine. Samsung seems to have value engineered themselves right out of a repeat customer when the time comes when I really need to replace this refrigerator.

I have just installed a new filter. On the instruction leaflet, they say I must follow the direction of an arrow, printed on the label, telling me which end to put on the incoming water source and which end towards the fridge. THERE IS NO ARROW PRINTED ON THE LABEL! I had to follow the direction of the previous one, hoping, logically, that it would be the same. I have taken photos to prove what I say, which I will send to Samsung. Perhaps a printing mistake, but no one checked?

This is just a simple charcoal filter and it won't give us what we need. Charcoal filters won't filter heavy metals and other important contaminants. Samsung is our "go to" brand but didn't like how they put just "charcoal" in their filter instead of KDF etc... If I need to buy another refrigerator, it won't be Samsung just because of the filter issue. I won't feel safe when I use my refrigerator filter, you "must" do better Samsung!

These filters never top tasting bad. I bought a box of 3 and threw the other 2 out. We have followed the instructions and we have run countless gallons of water through the filter and it still tastes horrible. Don't waste your money. Nice thing is our model refrigerator can operate without the filter. I purchased an 'in-line' filter to filter the water before it gets to the refrigerator.

I bought this product over 3 months ago. I bought some strips to test the water in the house for hardness. Even with this filter in the refrigerator the water from the refrigerator still says it’s just as hard as the water coming directly out of the sink. So it’s not a good product for me. Bought filter HAF-CIN one day ago, I installed the new filter and after few minutes water all over . I removed that filter and installed the second one in the package and water again on the floor, inside the drawers and dripping from the side of the bottom drawer, two hours to dry all the water. My refrigerator is only 4 years old, I always bought original filter, I didn't know what else to do. I removed the second new filter and installed the old filter back and no more water leaking. I guess I need to keep the old filter on forever, unless you guys have a logical explanation for this.

I love my Samsung Refrigerator. But I'm giving this review to warn consumers to please inspect your filter for small cracks etc before installing. My filter ruptured and flooded my house. The service technician had never seen this happen before, but said it could have been caused by the filter being dropped, causing cracks in housing.

New fridge in Nov 2012, filter lasted 6 months. This is where it gets interesting... Replaced filter and it only lasted 30 days. Replaced again thinking we had defective filter and the third filter only lasted 2 weeks. Water flow decreases significantly. It takes a full 60 seconds to fill a 1 cup measuring cup. Troubleshooted to see if there was a water pressure problem. Removed filter and filled same cup of water in less than 10 seconds. Water flow increased significantly with no filter. At $60 a shot..extremely disappointed in the filters longevity. Fridge works great otherwise.

So far this filter has lasted over 6 months and it's still going. It is used daily for a family of 6. The water is amazing. In general, the water in the foothills is already pretty good, but when you add this filter it tastes like bottled water every time. I would definitely recommend. The only downside is the cost, however, you don't need to replace it as often as normal filters so you are definitely getting your moneys worth out of it. You'll get about 300 gallons out of it but I'm sure you'll get excellent tasting water way beyond that.

It was a very easy switch to replace the water filter on our Samsung refrigerator. Since it was my first time switching the water filter I thought I should read the instructions before I attempted the switch. Everything went very smoothly and as long as the wife is happy, well everything is good. My wife did a great job on the choice she made with the purchase of the refrigerator and now it's my job to keep it in great working condition. I would recommend a factory replacement if for no other reason than the piece of mind.

This is our second fridge with water filter. The previous one, not a Samsung, did not deliver very cold water and the filter was extremely difficult to change. We are quite happy with this one (a french door model), especially how easy it is to change the filter. We've had it for a year, and have changed the filter every 6 months. We live in a very hard-water area, so I think that's really good performance. We also use the filtered water with a home soda-making machine, and it tastes fabulous. I wish all these filters were less expensive, but Samsung's are comparable with the other brands. On balance we're very happy with the performance of the fridge and the filter, and would highly recommend the Samsung brand for anyone looking for an excellent-quality, good-value fridge.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These filters are the real deal. They work well to keep the water clean and tasting good. They also filter the water before the ice cubes are made, so I have good confidence that the ice is clean too. Because they are first-party filters from the same manufacturer as my refrigerator, they work well. It's easy to unplug one filter and plug in the new one after I turn off the water running to my fridge. Each filter lasts 6 months, so this two-pack lasts a year. I couldn't be more satisfied with them.

Purchased a replacement filter - Samsung - from a big box home appliance store and installed it according to directions. Let water flow for several gallons - again, according to the directions on the package. Worked well for a week, and then water flow began dropping. These filters are kind of expensive unless you enroll in the auto renewal plan. With the plan I feel the price is fair. I have found however when comparing this filter to a Brita filter that the Samsung filter leaves more particles left over in the water. This was tested several times with a clear glass pitcher. Tap water still tastes great out of this fridge and filter. I just have some concerns about the contaminants it did not filter out.

Does not appear to actually filter water. My tap water was tested with a TDS meter and it metered 116 ppm (parts per million) of total dissolved solids. I then tested the "filtered water" and the reading was the exact same. This filter appears to just make you think you are getting cleaner water. I had a big detailed review of this filter submitted but it was not published the first time to the website for some odd reason. Thanks Samsung

After seeing a few bad reviews about fitting the filter seems like a few having trouble, so here goes.. on installation of new filter you remove the clips red blue In many cases when you remove the clip then before you start tugging on the pipe push the grey collar down this releases the pipe so it pulls out with ease. To put the pipe back on the new filter simply push firmly back into the filter until it stops and replace the clip.

After years of trying different manufacturer's replacement parts in various products, I've found them to be a waste of money. For instance, computer printer ink cartridges. I've always had issues with them. Our new Samsung refrigerator is beautiful and I wouldn't want to buy aftermarket filters and take a chance of getting leaky ones. Bought the OEM and they work great and the water also tastes great too.

These filters work fine, but only for a short period. In my experience they do not meet the specified 6 month life span. After about 2 months the water flow drops down to a slow dribble and I have to replace again. These filters are expensive and when you have to replace them so often they do not represent good value. Note that I have had to replace 5 filters over the 1 year I have owned the fridge.

Water filter does what it says on the tin. Like others I really struggled to remove the old unit, until I discovered what when you've removed the (red in my case) retaining clip, you need to push the grey collet INTO the filter as you remove the pipe, to release it. Just pulling on the pipe will only make the collet grip harder and will potentially stretch the pipe.

I really need an effective water filter and this is the only one available for my frig. This filter is not helping with a majority of the issues in my drinking water. I ah e had my refrigerator for 2.5 years and it only had an ice maker. It eats through the filters in about 3.5 months. My previous Frigidaire filters were cheaper and lates about 9 months covering ice maker and water dispenser. Love the fridge but the filter cost is very high and short lasting. Samsung need to improve filter life and lower the cost.

The design of the DA29-00020B has been modified, and without a part number change, no longer locks into the water filter holder. I believe a new supplier of the filter made modifications that ignored the earlier models. Poor engineering effort not to check compatibility with earlier models. My French Door model is only four years old.

Very upset, we tested the water it came up 385 ppm with a zero water tester. My zero water filter tested 0, bottled water tested 35. Tap water 600, but 385 is unacceptable. We tried 2 authentic Samsung water filters. Seems all the filters are not filtering water as well as other filters or sources of water eg. bottled. Not a happy customer.

The filter claims it can filter up to 300gal of water yet I haven't even used 5 gallons and its indicating I should replace it. I installed the frig. only 3 months ago with very light water consumption. I'd like to give this a higher rating but at $50 bucks a pop, I can't see using this if this is the life expectancy.

The filter works great and is easy to install. Getting it out of the plastic package is another issue. Regular scissors didn't do it. We had to use tin snips, and my husband cut his hand on the sharp plastic trying to get the filter out of the packaging. Please consider some other packaging option.

interesting that the description of this filter, which I use for our fridge, only provides the most general and meaningless content possible, such as "reduces 99% of potentially harmful contaminants." I have been unable to find information anywhere online about what specific contaminates it is intended to filter and at what levels. Does this also apply to heavy metals? If so, where is the information? Merely stating it does is not sufficient. And who/what are these generic contaminates potentially harmful to -- the appliance or humans? Very suspicious that this information is not provided. It wouldn't even bother me very much if the filter is intended to protect the appliance rather than humans. At the very least I would better understand the potential exposure of contaminants to my family and could take additional action if or as needed. I suspect the filter does not do very much and provides a false sense of security of filtering contaminates that are harmful to people. If I'm wrong, please point me to the information.

Little tricky for me to finally install the filter in the "locked" position. Now the red filter light on the front panel won't go off (instructions say the filter light should go off after holding for 3 seconds).

It's working as best as i can tell. (I didn't have a water test.) Removal of old filter and installation of new was a snap. Hardest part was pulling the unit away from wall to kill the water source.

The filter is fine, but the packaging is BRUTAL! You don't need to put it in such stiff plastic that is almost impossible to get it out. I can only hope I didn't hurt the filter in wrangling with it.
