[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initially I was hesitant to purchase because I saw a bunch of bad reviews early on about the device crashing, going slow, etc. Obviously I put my trust in samsung because ultimately I know they will stand by their products and make it right if something were to happen. This thing is blazing fast. I use it for gaming and light video editing. Transfered 4TB to it through the USB C port on my gaming pc. If you catch it on sale you won't find anything portable this fast and reliable. It also works with my Samsung S24 Ultra. With Dex mode I can do some serious gaming and this portable SSD doesn't miss a beat. Thank you Samsung for yet another reliable product.

The transfer speeds are super fast im convinced it supports thunderbolt like transfer speeds especially when paired with my Galaxy Book Pro 5. I use mine for a large suite of music instruments software so my entire Native Instruments music library is stored on it and the loading speeds even for larger and more demanding instruments is effortless.

Transfer speeds are super fast, I have it plugged directly into my Galaxy Book thunderbolt 4 port. I love the extra security feature as well which allows you to toggle security mode on or off. Security mode allows you to input and require a password before any changes are made to the SSD and that’s a first for me, I feel like all companies should do this.

I picked the 8 TB version up back in December. During the initial transfer from my old HDD, I noticed the transfer interrupted a couple of times. Not a big deal at first, but lately it has gotten really bad. Constantly getting "device is not ready" errors when trying to browse the contents. I have to reseat the cable to get it working again every 15 minutes. I really wanted to like this, but this was a very expensive drive to have these frequent disconnects.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First time i use it i do a backup of a 4T SSD that i need to format and when i was goin to transfer the data back to the SSD i got and error and have to format the T5 Evo drive losing all the data Thankfuly i own a recovery software and manage to recover around 75% of the data on the drive Now i save some movies hoping i dont have any issues with the T5 SSD again I love samsung products but they are not perfect

I entered the plug into the drive and the computer took ten seconds to load five files. It happens to every computer I use with this specific product. Greetings. I have problems with write speed on this drive... The read speed is fine with transferspeed between 400-460MB/s. But when writing to the drive its only between 30-50MB/s. Ma old WD elements mechanical drive is faster than this SSD. When doing a benchmark test in Samsung Magician it says 438MB/s S read & 440MB/s S Write.

The USB 3.2 speed is blazing fast - I've seen significantly reduced render times and file transfer speeds are truly impressive. Initially, I was a bit concerned about heat with such a high capacity drive, but the T5 EVO stays surprisingly cool even under heavy load. The compact and durable design is also a big plus, making it easy to toss in my bag and take on location shoots. The only minor thing I noticed is that the cable included is quite short. While it's fine for laptop use, a longer cable might be more convenient for desktop setups. However, this is easily replaceable. Overall, the Samsung T5 EVO is a fantastic investment for anyone needing fast, reliable, and massive portable storage. Highly recommended!

I purchased this product August 2024. I started off being a satisfied customer. I used my SSD to store my music because I'm a professional DJ. I only used 6.3TBs and it has slowed down Serato DJ Pro on both my Macbooks causing delays with music loading.and performances. I'm not happy with this product

The Samsung T5 Evo is a great storage device. If you work in the creative field its a must have. If you are some who uses creative apps and need storage to transport files, large files this is a great Portable SSD. If you don't work in the creative field, this is still a great storage device. I've used it to upgrade storage on my TV. Save music, videos, and photos. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the way you format the device matters. Since I primarily work on a pc, where it connects without issue, i formatted it for that. It connects great that way, but if I want to plug it into my table or phone sometimes the devices will not detect the storage device. I have to restart my tablet for it to read the storage device. When it does connects transferring files is blazing fast. I got the 8T8 size and its perfect. I keep the device in a case, which I'd recommend. So everything still working like the day I purchased it. The case absorbs and drops and bumps. The device has not failed, the hardware seems to be built to last. I think this is almost the perfect Portable. Now if the they could just fix the connectivity between devices that would be great.

I use this drive primarily as a backup drive. The pros are that it is very compact and quiet, easy to use, and in most cases has decent transfer speeds for an external drive. But in my usage so far, it has one really annoying quirk: if you try to transfer too much data at once, it will transfer quickly for the first part then after a certain point the transfer speed will slow down significantly to like kB/s speeds. In my first use, tried to transfer 2.7 TB at once and it held steady speeds in the ~200-300 MB/s range for the first ~1.6 TB, then literally dropped to 0.4 MB/s and stayed there for over 12 hours before I just canceled the transfer. The drive didn't overheat as I was monitoring the temperature with HWInfo and it stayed around 40 C, so it wasn't a heat issue. For some reason, the way the drive is controlled causes this. I've worked around this by doing big transfers in blocks. When I break a 2 TB transfer into blocks of 500 GB, for example, it'll keep high transfer speeds for each block. So it is a little annoying that I can't just set up a large transfer in one go, but otherwise it works well if you work around those limitations.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the T5 EVO USB 3.2 8T portable SSD for the last few months and at first I thought I was insane for thinking I needed so many terabytes of memory, yet after the this years installment of call of duty mwiii, I now can appreciate the storage capacity of this device. I've also been able to install several video game rom dumps, something that I previously never even considered doing due to limited storage space. I'm so extremely satisfied with my purchase, not only because of the available space, but because I leisurely don't even have to think about space ever and it's a beautiful thing to not constantly worry about deleting files, games, pictures and basically everything just because of a single update or bug fix. Having an additional 8tb of memory is exactly why the term "worry free" even exists in my vocabulary. I highly recommend this ssd to anyone abs everyone especially if you work, play or use your PC on a daily basis. It's an absolute must have and I promise, you will be thanking me for this recommendation after your first peak of all of your glorious memory space available in your drive. It's just stunning and beautiful.
