You will always know when your laundry is finished thanks to the completion chimes and alarm sounds on your Samsung washer or dryer. These sounds notify you when the appliance turns on, when a wash or dry cycle ends, and when buttons are pressed. While these notifications are helpful, you may prefer not to hear them every time. On some models, you can turn off certain alarm sounds, including the cycle completion chime.

Note:

  • Only some models can do this: Adjusting alarm sounds is available only on select models. Check your user manual for instructions specific to your model. If the user manual does not include steps for turning off the sounds, then the feature is not supported on that model.
  • Coverage of this article: The provided information applies to Samsung washers and dryers sold in Canada.

You can turn off the alarm sounds on your washer or dryer, such as the cycle completion chime and the power off sound. Please note that button sounds will stay on. The exact button depends on your model.

  • Some models use a dedicated button: These models have a button on the control panel that controls the alarm sounds. The button is usually labelled Sound or Alarm Off.
  • Other models use a secondary function: On these models, the alarm sound setting is a secondary function of another button, so you must press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The button will most likely be Super Speed, Alarm Off, Temp. or Extra Rinse on washers, or Drum Light, Eco Dry or Super Speed on dryers. The secondary function is shown under the button with a label such as Sound off, Sound or Alarm Off. In some cases, it may be shown as an icon representing a crossed speaker.

Below, you will find visual examples from different Samsung washers and dryers to help you identify the possible buttons and labels:

  • Turn alarm sounds on or off: You can repeat this process whenever you want to disable or enable the alarm sounds.

Certain newer washer and dryer models are compatible with the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet. If your model supports this feature, you may be able to adjust all alarm sounds in the app, including the completion chime and the scrolling chime.

Note: If your model is compatible with SmartThings but does not include an option to adjust sounds in the app, you may still be able to adjust them using the control panel instead. It is also possible that your model does not support sound adjustment.

3 Depending on your model, you will see either a switch or a slider for sound control:
  • If you see a switch next to Sounds, tap the toggle to turn the sounds on or off.
  • If you see a volume slider instead of a switch, adjust the slider as needed.
