Samsung Refrigerator - Use Sabbath mode
Sabbath mode adjusts your refrigerator so it can meet with the requirements of certain religious laws for holidays and days of rest. This involves causing the panel and lights on the unit to not respond to input in any way, either from pressing buttons or opening the door.
The provided information refers to refrigerators sold in Canada. The available settings and options may differ for appliances sold in other countries.
Not all models have Sabbath mode. If your user manual does not mention it, then your model does not have it. Models which have both Sabbath mode and SmartThings can turn Sabbath mode on or off in SmartThings. To do so, open SmartThings and select your refrigerator, then navigate to Menu, tap Refrigerator options, and then tap Sabbath mode.
When the refrigerator is in Sabbath mode, the buttons, the display, and the internal lights do not function. The refrigerator and freezer, however, continue to cool. This is based on the Kosher certification requirements. Sabbath mode stays active for 85 hours once it's enabled, even if there is a power outage.
If your model has Automatic Control Lock, you will need to unlock it first. To turn Sabbath mode on or off, you will need to touch and hold a 2-button combination for 5 seconds until the lights go out or come back on. Consult your user manual to determine what buttons should be used on your specific appliance. On Samsung fridges, the 2-button combination is usually one of the following: Door Alarm and Water/Ice, or Freezer and Door Alarm, or Power Freeze and Power Cool.
