Change the email address on your Samsung Account

If you switched over to a new email address or simply don’t use your current one any more, you can change your email address on your Samsung account. This can be done from your Galaxy phone or the Samsung website and takes only a few minutes to complete.

Note:

  • Coverage of this article: Information provided applies to mobile devices sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider, software version, and device model.
  • Email verification requirement: Samsung requires verification through the current email address before it can be changed. Make sure your current email address can receive emails before proceeding.
  • New email address requirements: The new email address must be valid and able to receive verification emails.

Please follow the steps below to change your Samsung account email address using your Samsung Galaxy device:

Step 1. Tap Settings.

Step 2. Tap Samsung account.

Step 3. Select Profile info.

Step 4. Tap the email address under Account ID.

Step 5. Select Change in the email ID change prompt.

Step 6. Enter your new email address in the email change field, then tap Change.

Step 7. Open the inbox of your new email address, check the verification email, and enter the verification code. Tap Verify.

Step 8. Enter your Samsung account password, then tap Confirm.

Step 9. Review your new email ID and tap Done.

The steps to change your email address may vary depending on whether two-step verification is enabled on your Samsung account. Select the section that applies to you below.

If two-step verification is enabled

If two-step verification is enabled, follow the steps below to update your Samsung account email address:

Step 1. Go to the Samsung account website.

Step 3. In the Profile menu, select Manage Samsung account.

Step 4. In Samsung account settings, go to Email ID.

Step 5. In the Change Email ID window, enter your new email address, then select Change.

Step 6. Enter your Samsung account password, then select OK.

Note: Make sure to read the precautions displayed on the screen before changing your email ID.

Step 7. After checking the inbox of your new email address, enter the verification code in the verification window, then select Verify.

Step 8. When the email ID change is complete, select Done.

If two-step verification is not enabled

If two-step verification is not enabled, follow the steps below to change the email address linked to your Samsung account:

Step 1. Go to the Samsung account website.

Step 2. Enter your Samsung account information, then click Sign in.

Step 3. In the Profile menu, select Manage Samsung account.

Step 4. In Samsung account settings, go to Email ID.

Step 5. In the Change Email ID window, select Change.

Step 6. After checking the inbox of your current email address, enter the verification code in the account verification window, then select Verify.

Note: If two-step verification is enabled, the current email address verification step is skipped. Two-step verification can be set in the Security menu.

Step 7. In the Change Email ID window, enter your new email address, then select Change.

Step 8. Enter your Samsung account password, then select OK.

Step 10. When the email ID change is complete, select Done.

Your Samsung account ID can be recovered using an email ID hint or your recovery (secondary) phone number or email address.

Option 1: Recover your account ID using an Email ID hint

Step 5. Enter the requested information > Tap Continue.

Step 6. Review the Email IDs listed > Tap Sign in now > Sign into your account.

Option 2: Recover your account ID using your recovery phone number or email address

Step 1. Open Settings > Select Samsung account.

Step 3. Select Forgot ID.

Step 4. Enter your recovery (secondary) phone number or recovery (secondary) email > Tap Continue.

Step 6. Verify that the phone number or email displayed is yours > Tap Send code > Enter the verification code or PIN number > Tap Verify.

Step 7. Select an email ID > Tap Sign in now > Sign into your account.

Follow the steps below to begin resetting your password. Once you reach the verification screen, choose one of the four available methods to verify your identity and create a new password.

Note:

  • Go to inbox not available: If you do not see the Go to inbox button on your phone, check your email inbox directly.
  • Signed-in devices: You can choose to sign out or stay signed in to your Samsung account on other devices with active login sessions.
  • Other verification options: In some countries where you can sign up with a mobile phone ID, you can also reset your password through phone number verification.

Option 2: Reset password using a security question

Note:

  • Signed-in devices: You can choose to sign out or stay signed in to your Samsung account on other devices with active login sessions.
  • Security question required: To reset your password using a security question, you must have already registered one in your Samsung account settings.

Step 2. Select Recovery email > Tap Continue > Tap Go to inbox > Follow the instructions in the email.

  • Signed-in devices: You can choose to sign out or stay signed in to your Samsung account on other devices with active login sessions.
  • Recovery email required: To reset your password using a recovery email, you must have already registered a recovery email in your Samsung account settings.
