Galaxy Tab A (2019) - The new navigation bar (SM-T510)

The navigation bar helps you, well, navigate your tablet. It works as kind of a manual override switch in every situation, giving you control over your tablet. Whether you prefer the classic style, want to rearrange the button order, or don't want it to appear at all, you can customize the navigation bar.

Information provided applies to devices sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary for tablets sold in other countries.

Navigation type

There are two navigation bar styles available to help make using your tablet even easier. You can access them by navigating to Settings and searching for and selecting Navigation type. Here are the different options:

Navigation type
  • Navigation buttons: The classic navigation bar, with Recents, Home, and Back buttons in a row at the bottom of your screen.
  • Full screen gestures: The gestures allow you to keep the utility of the Navigation bar while also keeping your display free of extra icons. Once activated, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen where the buttons used to be.
Button order

You can also adjust the order of the buttons on the navigation bar to mix it up.

Button order

From Settings, search for and select Button order. Choose your desired setup under "Button order".
