Unable to open Youtube Application in Samsung TV

There are 3 possibilities that YouTube apps cannot be connected: 

• TV Firmware and YouTube Apps version is not updated 

• Network error or Network congestion 

• Changes in YouTube API version

Please note: Effective from March 2015, YouTube no longer support Year 2010 & 2011 TV models. When software is upgraded, video and audio settings previously made will return to their default settings. It is advisable to write down the settings so that it can easily be reset after the upgrade.

TV Firmware and Apps version is not updated

Press Menu >Support > Software Update >Update now and follow the on screen guide

Press Menu >Support > Software Update >Update now and follow the on screen guide

To update via USB Thumb Drive

Insert a USB drive containing the firmware upgrade file, downloaded from www.samsung.com into the TV USB Port. Do take note not to disconnect the power or remove the USB drive until upgrades are complete. The TV will be turned off and on automatically after completing the firmware upgrade. 

To update YouTube Apps version

Press Smart Hub button > Select Apps Panel > Select YouTube > Press and hold Enter button until a popup window appear > Select Update Apps 

If the update app option cannot be located, check option setting in the Apps panel. (This is applicable for older model TV).

Updating Youtube Apps

Network error or Network congestion

• Verify that the network connection is working 

• It is always recommended to have a network speed of 5Mbps or more 

Press Menu > Select Network > Select Network status > Select IP Settings 

Verify if the information on the DNS Server is and change it if it is different

Changes in YouTube API version

YouTube change their API version and no longer support Year 2010 & 2011 TV model from March 2015
