How to get your home ready for your new Samsung dryer

Congrats on your new dryer purchase! Before it’s delivered, it’s important to make sure your space is suitable. First, double check the measurements of your laundry space to make sure there is enough room for the depth and width of the dryer. If you’re going to use a pedestal, don’t forget to factor the height into your measurements. You’ll also need to make sure the space has proper ventilation and electrical hookups. If you purchased a gas dryer, be sure you have a professional install or modify gas lines, if needed. For electric dryers, you’ll need to purchase a dryer cord that matches your home’s outlet. We recommend having a professional installer or an electrician attach the power cord to your dryer for you. Next, inspect and clean your dryer exhaust. On the day of delivery, make sure you have a friend lend you hand when moving your dryer into place. For dyers with a steam feature, you’ll need to turn off your water supply and hook up the cold water. For all dryer’s, connect the exhaust to your vent using 4” metal ducting, and make sure there aren’t any excessive kinks or bends. Now, just level your dryer, and then plug it in and turn it on. Using Smart Install on Samsung dryers

Smart Install can help diagnose your dryer when there’s an issue – but no error code. First, confirm the dryer is empty and powered on. If you have a dryer with buttons, press and hold Time Up and Temp until AS displays (press and hold Option and Temp on Smart Control dryers until AS appears). Then, open the door and touch the moisture bar sensors. Shut the door and press Start after the display changes from 0 to 1. Once Smart Install is complete, OT flashes on your dryer to indicate it’s in good condition! A vent blockage test is needed if HC or HC1 appears on the display. If any other error codes show during the Smart Install test, check out Samsung.com for additional troubleshooting help. Watch this video for full details.

How to operate your Samsung washer and dryer

When it comes to washing and drying your laundry, you may think you already know all there is to know, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure laundry day runs smoothly. Samsung washing machines require high efficiency detergents. These have an HE symbol on the bottle so check for that before starting a wash. You’ll need to add the detergent, fabric softener, and/or bleach into the appropriate compartments before running the cycle. Be sure that you don’t go above the max-fill lines in the compartments. If you prefer detergent pods to liquid detergent, you can just toss those straight into the drum before adding your clothes. If your washer has an auto-dispenser, then doing laundry just got a whole lot easier! Simply load the dispenser with detergent and you should be set for several loads. Just be sure you enable the Dose per Wash setting on your washer. If your washer won’t start, check to make sure Child Lock is disabled. To disable it, press and hold the indicated two-button combination on your washer model until the child lock indicator turns off. After each cycle, keep your washer door open to prevent mildew. It’s also a good idea to run a self-clean cycle and clean out the pump filter monthly. When it comes to your dryer, things are a bit simpler! Just make sure to only put clean clothes in your dryer and to clean the lint filter after every dry cycle. Watch this video for more details.

Keeping your Samsung washer and dryer clean

With regular maintenance, you can keep your washer and dryer looking good and running their very best! For your washer, it’s best to clean up any spills right away. Laundry detergent can create a more difficult mess if it dries. If it’s gotten to that point, use a wet, soft cloth to clean up the mess. You can even use a mild detergent for stuck on goop. Don’t forget about the detergent drawer when cleaning your washer. It can get a bit grimy with built up detergent, too. To clean it, just remove the drawer and give it a gentle scrub with some water. For tough stains, including ones inside the drum, use a stainless steel appliance cleaner, like Cerama-Bryte. Never use abrasive cleaners! To keep mildew at bay, remember to leave your washer door open after each wash cycle. If you’ve forgotten to do this, you can use bleach and run an empty cycle to kill any mold and odor. You can also just run a Self-Clean cycle! Self-Clean will clean your door seals as well, but it’s important to check them often and remove any debris or mold. Keeping your door seals clean helps to prevent leaks. For your dryer, rinse the lint filter periodically to get rid of any waxy buildup from your dryer sheets. Watch this video for full details.

How to reverse the door on your Samsung dryer

If the layout of your laundry room isn’t working because the dryer door opens the wrong direction, you’re in luck! You can easily reverse the direction of your dryer door in a few simple steps. All you need is a screwdriver and a soft blanket. To get started, unplug your dryer, and remove the two door hinge screws. Now just lift the door to remove it, and place it on the blanket to avoid any damage. Remove the two screws above and below the front cut-out. Now, on the opposite side of the dryer, remove the two screws above and below the lever holder. Remove the two screws holding the lever holder in place, reattach the lever holder on the opposite side, and then replace all the remaining screws. Reverse the door hinge screw and place it into the other side screw hole. Finally, reattach the door on the other side. Watch this video for more details.

Understanding noises and error codes on your Samsung dryer

Having a dryer in your home to dry freshly washed clothes or warm up blankets on a cold night is great! Hearing that dryer make concerning noises or flash an error code is not so great. However, you’ll be happy to know most of those noises are nothing to lose sleep over, and some of those error codes and can easily be resolved without having to call for help. Dryers make a few different noises, and that’s normal. You’ll usually hear a light humming during a cycle. If you hear rattling, it usually means something is loose. Check that your dryer is properly leveled and look for loose change or keys in the drum. A rattling sound could also be caused by a loose connection to the vent duct so just be sure it’s tightened all the way. If you hear a squeaking sound during a cycle, this usually indicates that a belt is slipping due to an oversized load. Try reducing the load size and if this doesn’t resolve the issue, it’s time for service. When it comes to error codes, there are a few that you can handle on your own. You may see a dC, dE, do, or d0 if the door latch isn’t closing. Make sure that there isn’t anything caught in the door, like a scarf or shirt sleeve. If your dryer is SmartThings enabled, you can use Smart Care to look up the error code. If you’re dryer doesn’t seem to be drying your clothes completely or it’s taking too long, check to see if Eco Mode is active. If it is, it will increase the time it takes to dry your clothes. You also need to make sure you’re cleaning the lint filter. This means removing lint after every cycle, as well as giving it a gentle scrub with a brush and clean water to remove waxy buildup caused by dryer sheets. Lastly, don’t forget to clean your moisture sensors! Watch this video for full details.
