What is the Ethernet Port on the Back of the Dryer? (DV457GVGSWR/AA)

Ethernet Port on the back of the dryer is for a Smart Grid Modem. Smart Grid is designed to re-route power when needed. So instead of the entire block in a neighborhood losing power, only a few houses would.

Until the Government and Power Companies incorporate Smart Grid, the Smart Grid feature will not operate properly.

Smart Grid Software

The image below is the view facing the back of DV457

On the back of Dryer you will find an Ethernet (CAT5) port. This is not for use as an internet connection. Should you ever need it, the port is there for a Smart Grid Modem. If/When Smart Grid software is used on our current power grid, your washer will be compatible.

The smart Grid software interface allow you to control power consumption in all Smart Grid compatible appliances in the home.

  • Automated devices will notify power companies when an outages.

  • You will have the ability to control how much energy is used, how much to use, and when to use it.
