Adding Additional User Accounts to Use the Device on Your Galaxy Tab S

Set up additional user accounts for other users to use the device with personalized settings, such as email accounts, wallpaper preferences, and more.

User Account Types

  • Owner: The owner account is created only when setting up the device for the first time, and cannot be recreated. This account has full control of the device including user account management.

This means that no account (user, restricted, or guest) can be changed into the owner account.

  • User: This account allows users to access their own apps and content, and customize the device settings that affect all accounts.

  • Restricted profile: A restricted account can only access the apps and content allowed by the owner account, and cannot use the services that require logging in.

Set Up User Profiles

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch the DEVICE > Users.

  3. To add a new user or profile, touch Add user or profile > User > OK.

  4. Touch SET UP NOW from the pop up menu to begin account setup.

After you create a new user, that person needs to go through a setup process.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the account setup.

Set Up Restricted Profiles

Set up user profiles and then select one when unlocking the device to use personalized settings.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch the DEVICE > Users.

  3. To add a new user or profile, touch Add user or profile > Restricted profile.

If no screen lock is present, you will be prompted to create one.

  4. The new account can now be accessed. However, it is recommended to customize the settings. Touch the Settings icon to proceed.

  5. Switch the ON/OFF slider OFF or ON to configure which features are available for the account. Some features contain additional settings. Touch the Settings icon adjacent to the slider to view them.

Some apps cannot be enabled on restricted profiles.
